The mission and objective of this program is to address reintegration barriers faced by Indigenous offenders in custody. The program will provide supports for Indigenous offenders to successfully exit the gang they are associated with, including help to navigate the administrative and real-world factors of exiting that lifestyle, to be able to provide meaningful sustainability for their ways of living, and to address the voids in supports that Indigenous offenders face due to intergenerational trauma and colonial impacts

The purpose of the project is to provide culturally distinct reintegration and rehabilitation support to Métis offenders as they transition out of federal institutions and back into their communities. The project will provide clients with wrap-around support and assistance in accessing direct services through MN–S’s social infrastructure program and services

The program will provide effective supports for Indigenous Offenders serving federal sentences. These supports include annual staff training for CSC employees, monthly FASD sharing circles, transitional mentorship that supports reintegration, and case management and goal planning

This project continues the construction phases of a new facility that will provide 50 beds. These phases all include adequate and skilled labor, supervision, tools, equipment, site preparation, installations, construction, materials, services and testing. 50 rooms with single bunk beds, including 11 fully accessible rooms, will also offer environmentally-friendly controls and security enhancements, including cameras, alarms, sensors and fob access.

The project involves the renovation and refurbishment of CRF's exterior and interior. This will include improvements to the windows, insulation and electrical panel, renovation of the laundry room, flooring, fixtures and interior painting. The conference room will be renovated as well as the exterior will be updated with new paint, siding and signage.

The project will enhance safe and timely reintegration back to their communities as law-abiding citizens, and will provide culturally appropriate interventions, rehabilitation and reintegration support.

The program provides a reintegration training program to support Indigenous men and women offenders for skill development and job readiness in the construction industry utilizing a system of release within existing tools, ETA’s and work release.

The program and services the organization provides are recognized as an important component to the success rate for Indigenous offenders as well as provide services to fulfill Section 84 (offenders preparing for their exiting of the incarceration system and reintegrating in the Urban region of Montreal). The Justice Center provides holistic services to support Indigenous community members to continue on a good path forward and to support them in meeting their short and long term goals.

This project includes repairs to showers and bathrooms. The shower heads have been placed outside the watertight surface. This is causing water infiltration and the risk of mold growth. We'd like to remedy the situation by improving the waterproofing. We'd also have all the bathrooms repainted following the work. These improvements will have a positive effect on health and safety.
