About this information
In June 2016, as part of the Open Government Action Plan, the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat (TBS) committed to increasing the transparency and usefulness of grants and contribution data and subsequently launched the Guidelines on the Reporting of Grants and Contributions Awards, effective April 1, 2018.
The rules and principles governing government grants and contributions are outlined in the Treasury Board Policy on Transfer Payments. Transfer payments are transfers of money, goods, services or assets made from an appropriation to individuals, organizations or other levels of government, without the federal government directly receiving goods or services in return, but which may require the recipient to provide a report or other information subsequent to receiving payment. These expenditures are reported in the Public Accounts of Canada. The major types of transfer payments are grants, contributions and \'other transfer payments\'.
Included in this category, but not to be reported under proactive disclosure of awards, are (1) transfers to other levels of government such as Equalization payments as well as Canada Health and Social Transfer payments. (2) Grants and contributions reallocated or otherwise redistributed by the recipient to third parties; and (3) information that would normally be withheld under the Access to Information Act and the Privacy Act.

Climate resilient livelihoods for women in northern Ghana- II

The project aims at improving the resilience of agricultural livelihoods, particularly for women, by promoting the adoption of gender-responsive climate-smart agriculture practices. The project operates operate in 5 regions of northern Ghana where farming communities are highly vulnerable to droughts and other climate-related challenges. Project activities include: (1) providing training through tailor-made training programs on climate-resilient farming practices and resources to enhance women’s capacity to adapt to climate change and to address specific barriers such as limited access to land, technology, and financial services; (2) facilitating access to financial products such as low-interest loans, waived collateral, and flexible repayment terms. This project aims to improve economic wellbeing of young people, especially young women, in the Northern and Eastern Provinces of Sri Lanka. It seeks to enhance the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) system and increase inclusive employment opportunities tailored to local needs. Project activities include: (1) updating existing curriculum to align with analyses and best practices including gender sensitivity; (2) identifying labour market gaps and needs in consultation with industry stakeholders, and strengthening the job matching mechanisms; and (3) developing a collaboration agenda with local TVET stakeholders.

This project is part of Canada’s Renewed Women’s Voice and Leadership (RWVL) Program. This project aims to develop and host an outgoing trade mission in fiscal year 2025, bringing a delegation of up to 20 First Nations leaders, entrepreneurs, subject matter experts, and key stakeholders from British Columbia to Aotearoa/New Zealand. Entrepreneurship exchange between Chiba University and DMZ

This project aims to combine expertise from Digital Media Zone (DMZ) at Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) with key assets from Chiba University (Japan) to promote entrepreneurship education, co-innovation, and ecosystem development, in a collaboration between Canada and Japan. It focuses on 2 strategic initiatives, including a Knowledge-Sharing Workshop at EXPO Osaka 2025 and an immersion program at DMZ’s Basecamp in Toronto. At EXPO, Japanese universities learn in a workshop about TMU/DMZ’s Zone Learning model, focusing on entrepreneurship hubs and mentorship programs, while Canadian organizations share their incubator methodologies. The project also features an Entrepreneurship and Innovation Challenge, where 10 Canadian and 10 Japanese students collaborate on real-world solutions, supported by preparatory workshops. This project aims to increase access to finance for women-owned and -led small and medium enterprises (WSMEs) in Vietnam. It seeks to establish a finance facility under the Asian Development Bank (ADB) to provide grants and technical assistance to financial institutions, alongside commercial loans from the ADB and other lenders. These grants and technical assistance aim to incentivize financial institutions to increase outreach to WSMEs. The project also seeks to facilitate greater awareness and capacity of financial institutions to identify and support underserved women entrepreneurs in Vietnam in the long-term.
