Grants and Contributions

The First Response Fund (FRF) is a global humanitarian pooled fund that resources grassroots, local, life-saving humanitarian responses led by women-led and women’s rights organizations (WLO/WROs). The FRF leverages the global network of over 50 national, regional and multiregional Women’s and Feminist Funds (W/FF) to support WROs/WLOs to provide fast and effective humanitarian services in ODA-eligible countries, including to communities that may not be reached otherwise. The FRF supports WROs/WLOs to provide humanitarian response services in their communities, with a focus on humanitarian aid to high-need groups who often face barriers to access, including refugees and internally displaced people, women with disabilities, gender expansive and transgender people, Indigenous and Black women, rural women, and those at the intersection of many of these identities.

This project represents Canada’s support to the First Response Fund. Specific funding amounts, and targeted countries, will be identified based on humanitarian need, coordinated humanitarian response plans, and FRF members’ delivery capacity, as per the FRF’s Operational Manual. The use of Canada’s financial contributions will be limited to prioritized geographical areas in UN Humanitarian Appeals and/or UNCHR Refugee Response Plans.

Integrated National Financing Frameworks (INFFs) provide a framework for financing national sustainable development priorities and the SDGs at the country level. A country’s sustainable development strategy lays out what needs to be financed. INFFs spell out how the national strategy will be financed and implemented, relying on the full range of public and private financing sources. INFFs are a planning and delivery tool to help countries strengthen planning processes and overcome obstacles to financing sustainable development and the SDGs at the national level.
INFFs embody three principles that are central to accelerating progress toward the SDGs: (i) country-ownership and country-leadership; (ii) mission-orientation, catalysing financing reforms for sustainable development outcomes; and (iii) a holistic and integrated approach, advancing coherent change across public and private finance.

The Arctic Summit 2026 is envisioned as a major international platform that showcases the voices, perspectives, and leadership of the North. Its primary goal is to strengthen Canada’s sovereignty and security in the Arctic while accelerating investment in key sectors such as infrastructure, critical minerals, clean energy, and digital resilience.

Over three days, the Summit will feature strategic programming, including keynote addresses, panel discussions, interactive sessions, and a public exhibition — the Arctic Expo — highlighting northern innovation, culture, and technology. The project actively supports the participation of communities from Canada’s North and Arctic, as well as partners from across the circumpolar region, with particular emphasis on elevating Indigenous leadership and engagement.
