In June 2016, as part of the Open Government Action Plan, the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat (TBS) committed to increasing the transparency and usefulness of grants and contribution data and subsequently launched the Guidelines on the Reporting of Grants and Contributions Awards, effective April 1, 2018.
The rules and principles governing government grants and contributions are outlined in the Treasury Board Policy on Transfer Payments. Transfer payments are transfers of money, goods, services or assets made from an appropriation to individuals, organizations or other levels of government, without the federal government directly receiving goods or services in return, but which may require the recipient to provide a report or other information subsequent to receiving payment. These expenditures are reported in the Public Accounts of Canada. The major types of transfer payments are grants, contributions and \'other transfer payments\'.
Included in this category, but not to be reported under proactive disclosure of awards, are (1) transfers to other levels of government such as Equalization payments as well as Canada Health and Social Transfer payments. (2) Grants and contributions reallocated or otherwise redistributed by the recipient to third parties; and (3) information that would normally be withheld under the Access to Information Act and the Privacy Act.

Castlegar - Nelson Active Transportation Corridor Vision, BC
The project proposes hire a professional consulting agency to complete a feasibility study confirming routes and infrastructure for a protected active transportation pathway (walking, rolling, bicycle and e-bikes) along the highway, adjacent roads and paths, and/or hydro and rail rights of way, between Nelson and Castlegar. The proposed route will link and include existing regional parkland and pathway facilities. Alternate recommendations to be made where route may not be feasible.

Jordan-Vineland Connection – Town of Lincoln, Province of Ontario
This project promotes connectivity between the Jordan and Vineland communities 2 Central Business Districts, with a new active transportation route along King St. King St. The planning project is in partnership with the Niagara Region and will conduct a preliminary design study to determine what is required to establish Active Transportation facilities on King Street between 19th Street and 23rd Street.

Walking Trails
The Project will enhance sections of multi-use pathways within the community. The Project will include paving of approximately 2.55 kilometres of existing pathways in addition to the installation of benches, trash and recycling receptacles, bike racks, and wayfinding signage.

Multi-Use Pathway in Emerald Park, SK
The Project is a multi-use pathway within the community of Emerald Park. The pathway will be approximately 520 meters long and 2 meters wide and physically protected from vehicles by flexible delineators. Also included in the project is the rehabilitation of a crosswalk.
The Project will increase safety for children commuting to school, and connect two pedestrian systems, on Emerald Park Road and inside Kuzmic Park, therefore increasing overall community connectivity.

Community Sidewalk Enhancement Project
The Rural Municipality of Argyle's Community Sidewalk Enhancement Project is to repair existing sidewalks in Baldur and Glenora MB located in the Rural Municipality of Argyle.
The RM of Argyle would like to replace sidewalks which are located on Second Street in Baldur. This sidewalk is located in our business section in our community. It is near a hotel/restaurant, across from the Canada Post Office and adjacent to a car wash. It is one of the main sidewalks people walk on to get to the Sunrise Credit Union from Second Street.

Vern Miller Community Centre Green Retrofits
The Township of Black River-Matheson (BRM) will invest in public infrastructure that offers ice-rink programming, a gymnasium, and a community event hall. This initiative will reduce energy consumption and create an environmentally friendly gathering place in our community. It will improve Matheson’s Vern Miller Community Centre (VMCC) by replacing its aging dehumidifiers, implementing an energy efficient rink-cooling system and electric ice re-surfacer, and adopting a solar array on our building’s roof.
