In June 2016, as part of the Open Government Action Plan, the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat (TBS) committed to increasing the transparency and usefulness of grants and contribution data and subsequently launched the Guidelines on the Reporting of Grants and Contributions Awards, effective April 1, 2018.

The rules and principles governing government grants and contributions are outlined in the Treasury Board Policy on Transfer Payments. Transfer payments are transfers of money, goods, services or assets made from an appropriation to individuals, organizations or other levels of government, without the federal government directly receiving goods or services in return, but which may require the recipient to provide a report or other information subsequent to receiving payment. These expenditures are reported in the Public Accounts of Canada. The major types of transfer payments are grants, contributions and \'other transfer payments\'.

Included in this category, but not to be reported under proactive disclosure of awards, are (1) transfers to other levels of government such as Equalization payments as well as Canada Health and Social Transfer payments. (2) Grants and contributions reallocated or otherwise redistributed by the recipient to third parties; and (3) information that would normally be withheld under the Access to Information Act and the Privacy Act.

This project is being developed in partnership with the Niiwin Wendaanimok Partnership.

Photo Collection Preservation and Access

The objective of the project is to preserve the major collections of photo images held by the Annapolis Heritage Society (AHS) and render them accessible to the public. The purpose of the project is to make crowdsourcing—that is, seeking the public’s assistance to increase awareness of the archives—available to the community of Francophone archivists, both inside and outside Quebec. The project consists in developing online training (short videos, theoretical content, educational activities, collaboration spaces) for a wide variety of archive services, particularly services for the French-speaking and Indigenous minority populations, and making this training available at no charge. The goal of this online training, which is intended to be self-supporting, is to build knowledge through sharing experiences and holding activities within a community.

Preserving the Legacy of the Canadian National Exhibition: Digitizing Photography from the Alexandra Studio Collection 1977–79

Description:

The Canadian National Exhibition Foundation (CNEF), in partnership with the Canadian Heritage Photography Foundation (CHPF), aims to digitize 8,000 at-risk photographic negatives from the CNE archival collection.
The negatives will be rehoused by CNE archival staff in preparation for digitization. Once these images have been delivered to the archiving team at CHPF, they will be digitized. CHPF has successfully digitized more than 12,000 images through three consecutive projects funded by the Documentary Heritage Communities Program (DHCP). Once the images have been digitized and the accompanying metadata has been added, they will be uploaded to both the CHPF Digital Collections website and the CNE front-facing website and searchable database.

The Council of Yukon First Nations (CYFN) Archives Access Project application for the 2022-23 DHCP focuses on the completion of finding aids for records created by the CYFN predecessor organizations that founded and led the Yukon First Nations land claims movement from circa 1968 to circa 1983: YNB – Yukon Native Brotherhood (184+ boxes) and YANSI – Yukon Association of Non-Status Indians (61+ boxes). The 2022-23 project will also include records from the predecessor land claims negotiation organization CYI – Council for Yukon Indians (65+ boxes related to the Leadership and Implementation Planning series), and the CYFN – Yukon Native Language Centre Indigenous Language Preservation series (50+ boxes).

Historically, the Society of Friends (Quakers) has been instrumental in advancing business and industry in Coldstream, Ontario. The scope of this project is the digitization of early records and photographs from businesses and industries, personal records, and publications from the area Quakers.
The key activities for the project are the digitization of approximately 3 metres of records, which include 250 photographs. Two metres of these records consist of ledger books. The rest of the material is included in the list below and related to the Quakers' importance in rural Ontario. The project will begin June 1, 2022, and will be completed by March 31, 2023.

The archives has not had an archivist to manage this information.
