This study aims to optimize concrete formulations using alternative cementitious materials, improve mix design strategies, and evaluate performance across varying environmental conditions. A key focus is understanding the influence of pore-solution chemistry, curing regimes, including carbonation curing, and binder composition on steel corrosion. This Project will also generate critical insights into how low-carbon systems affect corrosion initiation and propagation by integrating materials science with durability assessment. The outcomes will support the design of corrosion-resistant, low-carbon concrete structures with extended service life and reduced environmental impact, directly contributing to Canada's carbon reduction goals and infrastructure resilience.
