In June 2016, as part of the Open Government Action Plan, the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat (TBS) committed to increasing the transparency and usefulness of grants and contribution data and subsequently launched the Guidelines on the Reporting of Grants and Contributions Awards, effective April 1, 2018.
The rules and principles governing government grants and contributions are outlined in the Treasury Board Policy on Transfer Payments. Transfer payments are transfers of money, goods, services or assets made from an appropriation to individuals, organizations or other levels of government, without the federal government directly receiving goods or services in return, but which may require the recipient to provide a report or other information subsequent to receiving payment. These expenditures are reported in the Public Accounts of Canada. The major types of transfer payments are grants, contributions and \'other transfer payments\'.
Included in this category, but not to be reported under proactive disclosure of awards, are (1) transfers to other levels of government such as Equalization payments as well as Canada Health and Social Transfer payments. (2) Grants and contributions reallocated or otherwise redistributed by the recipient to third parties; and (3) information that would normally be withheld under the Access to Information Act and the Privacy Act.

Yellowknife Women's Society Capacity and Sustainability Revitalization

This 60-month project will address the Yellowknife Women’s Society’s capacity needs to allow them to continue promoting social and systemic change towards gender equality. The organization will be enhanced through human resources development; improved staff training, recruitment and retention; succession planning; and review of the compensation plan. In addition, they will evaluate past advocacy efforts and create an advocacy plan to improve the impact of future advocacy efforts to support women and their families in Yellowknife.
Supplemental funds will be used for a results-based evaluation and key networking activities to improve the Managed Alcohol Program, including the creation of an updated training model for staff delivering the program. Yellowknife Women’s Society will develop an “all-in one” handbook for staff guidance and orientation and build organizational capacity to increase revenue generation and financial sustainability

Organizational capacity will be enhanced through the following activities: strategic planning and enhanced board governance, succession planning, and the development of a sustainability plan that focuses on developing partnerships and sponsorships.
The additional funding for 2023 will be used to develop partnerships, collaboration and networking to increase the reach of GAFFO to strengthen collaborative networks with organizations focused on issues affecting immigrant women in Canada and to implement interventions to include OLMCs. The supplement will also be used for Board training on obtaining and managing grants.

Organizational capacity will be enhanced through the following activities: strategic planning, the development of a networking strategy, and the development of a sustainability plan that includes communication strategies.
The additional amount granted will be used to undertake the necessary organizational management adjustments following the pandemic, develop a retention strategy for staff, administrators and volunteers, develop virtual service tools as well as new fundraising tools.
The second additional amount granted in 2023 will be used to develop a 2023-2024 operational plan; update La Maison's service delivery manual; update La Maison's visual identity and communications and promotional tools; and identify past and emerging issues and challenges and opportunities missed and to be seized through a review publication, a community orientation meeting, and a report compiling the recommendations that will guide La Maison's future internal functioning.

This will ensure diversity and inclusion in the organizations leadership and culture, and ensure equity drives its advocacy across the Province of British Columbia.
The supplemental funding will be used for expanding outreach and engagement with individuals and/or groups from equity-seeking communities, prioritizing Indigenous People, Black People and People of Colour (BIPOC).

This 48-month project will address organizational capacity needs to allow the organization to continue promoting social and systemic change towards gender equality. Organizational capacity will be enhanced through activities such as strategic and succession planning; partnership development, collaboration and networking; development of an advocacy strategy; implementation of results-based management; and organizational financial health planing. The organization will develop a national approach to: anti-violence advocacy; influencing social policy; and evaluating and sharing members’ best and promising practices. Activities to ensure sustainability will focus on building partnerships with donors and organizations with whom they can undertake shared projects.
The additional funding will help them build the additional capacity that is currently needed to equip themselves and help their communities address the many issues they are facing. This funding will be used to improve the organization’s capacity to digitalize its activities and respond to the urgent needs of survivors of sexual violence.
