In June 2016, as part of the Open Government Action Plan, the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat (TBS) committed to increasing the transparency and usefulness of grants and contribution data and subsequently launched the Guidelines on the Reporting of Grants and Contributions Awards, effective April 1, 2018.
The rules and principles governing government grants and contributions are outlined in the Treasury Board Policy on Transfer Payments. Transfer payments are transfers of money, goods, services or assets made from an appropriation to individuals, organizations or other levels of government, without the federal government directly receiving goods or services in return, but which may require the recipient to provide a report or other information subsequent to receiving payment. These expenditures are reported in the Public Accounts of Canada. The major types of transfer payments are grants, contributions and \'other transfer payments\'.
Included in this category, but not to be reported under proactive disclosure of awards, are (1) transfers to other levels of government such as Equalization payments as well as Canada Health and Social Transfer payments. (2) Grants and contributions reallocated or otherwise redistributed by the recipient to third parties; and (3) information that would normally be withheld under the Access to Information Act and the Privacy Act.

Implementing Women’s International Human’s Rights

This 36-month project will strengthen and enlarge FAFIA’s network of feminist rights advocates and womens organizations and equip them with the appropriate tools to incorporate a womens rights framework into their community work and advocacy. This will enable them to effectively articulate and analyze women's rights developed at the international level and remedy systemic gender-based wrongs in their Canadian contexts. Activities include mobilizing women’s organizations through a civil society engagement process, and developing a ‘made in Canada’ strategy for implementing the Convention on the Elimination of all Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW) recommendations.

2019 Women's Summit - Acadie Revisited: Feminism and Gender Equality in Acadie

This 16-month project will examine the role of feminism and gender equality in Acadian communities in Atlantic Canada. Through the coordination of a Women’s Summit within the larger World Acadian Congress, participants will be mobilized to address the socio-cultural and socio-economic factors that impede gender equality for women within Acadian, Francophone and official language minority communities. Panels, roundtables and a large scale plenary with various stakeholders will allow discussion around women’s civic, democratic and economic participation in rural, urban and remote communities, and inform recommendations and a framework for a Gender Equality Action Plan for Acadian communities in Atlantic Canada.
