Through this 27-month project, UPlift Black will address the needs and barriers to equality for 2SLGBTQI+ communities. This will be achieved by identifying key needs and barriers, developing trainings and a model of support for 2SLGTBQI+ newcomers and refugees, training community partners and service providers, and carrying out a public awareness campaign.

Through this 26-month project, Diversité 02 will address 2SLGBTQI+ communities’ needs and barriers to equality. The project aims to help fix the severe lack of services specifically for 2SLGBTQI+ people in the Saguenay–Lac-St-Jean region, particularly in the areas of gender identity and sexual orientation. The organization is seeking to help create safe, professional, welcoming environments to support and improve access to healthcare and social services for sexually and gender-diverse people. To achieve this, the organization will determine barriers to accessing healthcare, develop an educational tool for healthcare and social service workers, and implement solutions to improve 2SLGBTQI+ people’s access to care.

Through this 15-month project, Out on Screen will build its capacity to address the lack of positive and nuanced 2SLGBTQIA+ media representation and education. The project will include refinement and implementation of the new strategic plan and fundraising plan, and the development of the Board of Directors through recruitment and retention. These activities will strengthen the organization’s financial and operating sustainability and will increase Out on Screen’s capacity to effectively provide programming and adapt to the community’s evolving needs.

Through this 27-month project, Pride at Work Canada will address the needs and barriers to equality for 2SLGBTQI+ communities. This will be achieved in partnership with Electricity Human Resources Canada (EHRC). The project aims to enhance inclusivity within the Canadian electricity sector, particularly for individuals identifying within the 2SLGBTQI+ community. Key activities include the creation of a Best Practices Guide, developed collaboratively with industry stakeholders, outlining inclusive policies and practices and development of a training and awareness program to engage the stakeholders. Additionally, the project will offer direct consultation support to EHRC members and partners to support the adoption and advancement of these best practices. An inclusive practice scorecard to monitor workplace adoption of best practices and recommendations among participating organizations will be implemented, and a project-end feedback survey will be shared to collect feedback on implementation and capture stories of challenges and successes. The project will create a more inclusive environment for 2SLGBTQI+ employees as well as having an impact on the representation of other equity-deserving groups within the field such as women who still constitute only 16% of the workforce. Given the crucial role of electricity in the Canadian economy, creating a more inclusive sector is imperative for its continued success and for Canada to achieve its carbon reduction.

Through this 27-month project, Dignity Seniors Society will address the needs and barriers to equality for 2SLGBTQIA+ communities. This will be achieved by conducting outreach and trainings with British Columbia’s Health Authorities to help them understand the challenges and needs of 2SLGBTQIA+ older adults, and create safer, culturally appropriate spaces and services.

Through this 27-month project, Northern Mosaic Network will address the needs and barriers to equality for 2SLGBTQI+ communities. This will be achieved by developing a set of system navigation tools, developing and implementing specialized training for healthcare systems, creating discussion guides, creating a 2SLGBTQIA+ archive, and recording and disseminating a 2SLGBTQIA+ podcast series. By the end of the project, members of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community in urban, rural and remote areas of Northwest Territories will have access to resources. By providing multiple formats of educational opportunities, Northern Mosaic Network will create a reality where informing oneself about the 2SLGBTQIA+ community is both personalized and accessible.

Through this 27-month project, the AIDS Committee of Toronto will address the needs and barriers to equality for 2SLGBTQI+ communities. This will be achieved by first identifying barriers to workforce participation through primary research activities. The organization will use the findings to inform the development of workshops reaching diverse groups of 2SLGBTQ+ people with disabilities per year and piloting them. An evaluation of these workshops will be undertaken to ensure proper adaptation to the needs of the target community.

Through this 15-month project, Stratford Pride Community Centre will address the needs and barriers to equality for 2SLGBTQI+ communities. This will be accomplished through dialogue and education outreach, to address growing division between generational values, while fostering safety, acceptance, and joy for members of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community living in Stratford and Perth County. This will be achieved by 1) launching a multi-platform awareness campaign to foster empathy and to lay the foundation for community dialogue; 2) facilitating community engagements among diverse participants to identify community needs, while promoting dialogue and inclusion; 3) developing, piloting and conducting educational workshops and resources, aimed at promoting community diversity; and 4) disseminating tools, resources and results in the community and assessing project results.

Through this 15-month systemic change project, The Courage to Act Foundation will scale “At the Root: A Systems Change Approach to Addressing Sexual Harassment in STEM-focused Experiential Learning” to advance the economic security and prosperity of women and gender-diverse individuals. It will address the urgent but oft-ignored issue of sexual harassment in experiential learning, particularly within STEM contexts. To accomplish this, the project will engage in focused resource creation, education and training, network building, and advocacy. It will scale a successful national research-to-action initiative at three levels: adapting national resources on responding to sexual harassment in experiential learning to address specific needs for STEM-focused programs; expanding learning labs for post-secondary staff and administrators across six provinces; and, tailoring educational activities to advocate for policy and legislative changes that were identified in national research.

Through this 15-month project, Black Queer Youth Collective will build stronger capacity of 2SLGBTQI+ community organizations and networks to advance 2SLGBTQI+ equality. It will address the need to develop an organization that supports Black Queer and Trans individuals. The project will focus on incorporating the organization; establishing a Board of Directors; developing protocols for Human Resources and Administration; and finalizing an annual operating budget. These activities build on the organization’s strategic plan.

The supplemental funding will be used to increase the human resources working on the project to ensure the activities are completed successfully.
