This 31-month project will develop and test training for service providers supporting Indigenous LGBTQ+ and Two-Spirit survivors of gender-based violence.

In Phase 1 of the project, a national survey will be developed to gather information from 2SLGBTQ+ survivors of gender-based violence (GBV) on perceived service gaps and possible interventions. Trauma-informed engagements, including a national gathering, will be held to seek further input. Online training materials for service providers will be developed based on the consultations, and will be compiled into a virtual, self-led training module. The training module will be tested; with required changes identified, and adjustments made.

In Phase 2 of the project, a series of online workshops will be developed to deepen the learning facilitated through the “Restoring the Circle” training module. These workshops will cover topics of the online training module in more depth and provide service providers with an opportunity to raise questions and share experiences with their peers. They will be co-developed and facilitated with 2SLGBTQ+ Indigenous partners, offering service providers an opportunity to deepen their connection to the material. In addition to the workshop series, a “Restoring the Circle” toolkit and workbook will be available for the service providers participating in the online training.

This 18-month project will honour the lives and legacies of missing and murdered Indigenous women, girls and LGBTQ2S individuals and increase awareness about missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls and LGBTQ2S individuals. Project activities will include: the creation of a legacy statue of a woman; as well as the coordination and support of commemoration initiatives, including art workshops and a collaborative art exhibit.

This 7-month project will examine the organizational norms and workplace conditions that encourage or discourage sexist behaviours or acts among men in the Canadian workplace. Building on Catalyst's previous research programming on Engaging Men in Gender Initiatives and the Men Advocating for Real Change (MARC) programs, which engages male leaders as role models and influencers for gender equality, findings from this research will contribute to identifying positive approaches and strategies to shift thinking and behaviours, go beyond silence and inaction, and drive positive change within Canadian workplaces.

This 13-month project will address the organizational capacity needs of the 2-Spirits in Motion Foundation (2SiMF) and promote collaborative knowledge generation and dissemination amongst Two Spirit peoples and organizations in order to foster the creation of a safe and supportive environment for Two Spirit peoples in Canada. Specifically, organizational capacity building will be enhanced through the development of a strategic plan to advance 2SiMF’s finance, governance and human resource management structures, as well as disbursement of micro-grants to strengthen the capacity of locally and regionally engaged two-spirit organizations in Canada. A national Two Spirit gathering will inform priority setting for future policy and planning.

This 31-month project will address organizational capacity needs of The Enchanté Network to support its incorporation and expansion from coast to coast; strengthen its governance, develop and implement a communication strategy; work on partnership development; organize its funding national general meeting; and provide micro-grants to support the capacity building of LGBTQ2 centres and establishment of other centres across the country.

The additional funding of $700,000 will allow for the continued expansion of the organization by further strengthening its communication practices; mobilizing and disseminating knowledge on its member’s capacity, as well as providing them with micro-granting and supports services; and fostering the networking and collaboration between LGBTQ2 service centres. The organization will also join forces with Fierté Canada Pride and 2 Spirits in Motion Foundation to development joint policies, procedures and capacity-building programming, thereby strengthening the infrastructure of LGBTQ2 organizations across the country.

The additional funding is for the second phase of the project. The second phase of the project will allow the organization to expand its ability to undertake key activities through enhanced governance, networking, collaboration, and advocacy measures within the 2 Spirit community in Canada.

The additional funding of $700,000 will allow for the continued expansion of the organization by further strengthening its communication practices, mobilizing and disseminating knowledge on its members' capacity, as well as providing them with micro-granting and supports services, and fostering the networking and collaboration between LGBTQ2 service centres. The organization will also join forces with Fierté Canada Pride and 2 Spirits in Motion Foundation to development joint policies, procedures and capacity-building programming, thereby strengthening the infrastructure of LGBTQ2 organizations across the country.

The additional funding of $105,000 will allow for the development of a robust, long-term strategic plan and a broad overview of the Canadian 2SLGBTQ+ community organizations landscape. The organization will also refine its internal processes to support the needs of its expanding membership and update its branding, communications, and marketing practices accordingly. The “Centre in a Box” service, a one-stop-shop providing foundational information and resources, will also be created in response to its member organizations’ requests for capacity building resources.

This 31-month project will address through the first phase organizational capacity needs of the 2-Spirits in Motion Foundation (2SiMF) and promote collaborative knowledge generation and dissemination amongst Two Spirit peoples and organizations in order to foster the creation of a safe and supportive environment for Two Spirit peoples in Canada. Organizational capacity building will be enhanced through the development of a strategic plan to advance 2SiMF’s finance, governance and human resource management structures, as well as disbursement of micro-grants to strengthen the capacity of locally and regionally engaged two-spirit organizations in Canada. A national Two Spirit gathering will inform priority setting for future policy and planning. The second phase of the project will allow the organization to expand its ability to undertake key activities through enhanced governance, networking, collaboration, and advocacy measures within the 2 Spirit community in Canada.

The additional funding of $40,000 will be used to hire an Indigenous owned law firm to give legal guidance in redeveloping the organization’s bylaws. These bylaws will contribute to adapt the governance structure to the important growth of the organization. An Indigenous staffing company will be hired to carry national recruitment campaign to recruit a permanent Executive Director for the organization. Increased coverage of the Executive Director and Administrative Coordinator salaries will be supported by this additional funding.

Organizational capacity building will be enhanced through the development of a strategic plan to advance 2 Spirits in Motion Society (2SiMS) finance, governance and human resource management structures, as well as disbursement of micro-grants to strengthen the capacity of locally and regionally engaged two-spirit organizations in Canada. A national Two Spirit gathering will inform priority setting for future policy and planning.

The second phase of the project will allow the organization to expand its ability to undertake key activities through enhanced governance, networking, collaboration, and advocacy measures within the 2 Spirit community in Canada.

As part of the third phase, additional funding of $40,000 will be used to hire an Indigenous owned law firm to give legal guidance in redeveloping the organization's by-laws. These by-laws will contribute to adapting the governance structure to the important growth of the organization.

An Indigenous staffing company will be hired to carry out a national recruitment campaign to recruit a permanent Executive Director for the organization. Increased coverage of the Executive Director and Administrative Coordinator salaries will also be supported by this additional funding.

Additional funding of $175,000 and a one-year extension will allow 2 Spirits in Motion
Society to continue to build their organizational capacity by refining their governance pieces and strengthening partnerships. With the support of an Indigenous legal expert, 2SiMS will re-visit policies and practices to ensure they are in concurrence with the recently revised by-laws. To align, financial processes will be adjusted to ensure sound management of the organization's increased revenues and expenses that have resulted from its growth. Human resource policies and practices will also be adjusted to meet growth demands, including hiring practices, training, work planning, and retainment. Partnerships will be strengthened through face-to-face
engagements, and increased online presence.

The capacity and sustainability of Canadian 2SLGBTQI+ organizations will be strengthened through the development and delivery of capacity building resources and programs. The Enchanté Network will also build capacity to advocate for the public policy conditions necessary for 2SLGBTQI+ organizations to thrive by consulting 2SLGBTQI+ organizations to determine their policy priorities, building key public policy skills and developing an advocacy strategy.
