In June 2016, as part of the Open Government Action Plan, the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat (TBS) committed to increasing the transparency and usefulness of grants and contribution data and subsequently launched the Guidelines on the Reporting of Grants and Contributions Awards, effective April 1, 2018.
The rules and principles governing government grants and contributions are outlined in the Treasury Board Policy on Transfer Payments. Transfer payments are transfers of money, goods, services or assets made from an appropriation to individuals, organizations or other levels of government, without the federal government directly receiving goods or services in return, but which may require the recipient to provide a report or other information subsequent to receiving payment. These expenditures are reported in the Public Accounts of Canada. The major types of transfer payments are grants, contributions and \'other transfer payments\'.
Included in this category, but not to be reported under proactive disclosure of awards, are (1) transfers to other levels of government such as Equalization payments as well as Canada Health and Social Transfer payments. (2) Grants and contributions reallocated or otherwise redistributed by the recipient to third parties; and (3) information that would normally be withheld under the Access to Information Act and the Privacy Act.

Project activities will include: development and creation of legacy tipis, featuring Traditional teachings. These tipis will be installed in key places with ceremony and feast throughout Brandon, Manitoba.

This 20-month project will honour the lives and legacies of missing and murdered Indigenous women, girls and LGBTQ2S individuals and increase awareness about missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls and LGBTQ2S individuals. Project activities will include: facilitation of Healing Art and Cultural Workshops, inclusive of a space for participants to create memorial items for their loved ones. An MMIWG Inuit Memorial Ceremony and Feast will also be facilitated, where these memorial items will be showcased.

Project activities will include: development and creation of a legacy mural. Additional workshops and a smaller legacy mural will also be developed and created by youth during the project.

This 20-month project will honour the lives and legacies of missing and murdered Indigenous women, girls and LGBTQ2S individuals and increase awareness about missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls and LGBTQ2S individuals. Project activities will include: development and creation of a memorial book, including a companion educational resource that contextualizes the Manitoba First Nations MMIWG and LGBTQS history. These resources will be shared broadly with secondary, post-secondary schools, resource centres and libraries in Manitoba.

MMIWG Red Dress Warming Hut - Honouring Our Loved Ones

This 18-month project will honour the lives and legacies of missing and murdered Indigenous women, girls and LGBTQ2S individuals and increase awareness about missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls and LGBTQ2S individuals. Project activities will include: development and creation of a mobile hut based on the REDress Project, which will travel across Manitoba to raise prevention, awareness and pay tribute to the lives and tragedies of those lost.

Project activities will include: coordination and support of traditional healing activities, such as: ceremonies and prayers, Healing Circles, and talking circles as well as facilitation of trauma informed workshop sessions. A commemoration book will be developed and published to ensure MMIWG from Sagkeeng legacy lives on.

This 8-month project will honour the lives and legacies of missing and murdered Indigenous women, girls and LGBTQ2S individuals and increase awareness about missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls and LGBTQ2S individuals. Project activities will include: development and implementation of an awareness campaign to honour the legacy and lives of those who have been lost, to provide outreach and support to the families affected by the issue in the province. The campaign will include the work of a local Indigenous artist.

Project activities will include: development and creation of a park, which will include a legacy Tipi and memorial headstone. Additionally, Truth Circles, Blanket Exercises and balanced lifestyle programs will be facilitated throughout the duration of the project.

Project activities will include: the coordination of an event that will gather families affected across the province for dialogue and consultation. The topics to be discussed include: conclusions of the National Inquiry, the future of children to those lost, supports needed for families that are still searching, next steps for families in their journey.
