In June 2016, as part of the Open Government Action Plan, the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat (TBS) committed to increasing the transparency and usefulness of grants and contribution data and subsequently launched the Guidelines on the Reporting of Grants and Contributions Awards, effective April 1, 2018.
The rules and principles governing government grants and contributions are outlined in the Treasury Board Policy on Transfer Payments. Transfer payments are transfers of money, goods, services or assets made from an appropriation to individuals, organizations or other levels of government, without the federal government directly receiving goods or services in return, but which may require the recipient to provide a report or other information subsequent to receiving payment. These expenditures are reported in the Public Accounts of Canada. The major types of transfer payments are grants, contributions and \'other transfer payments\'.
Included in this category, but not to be reported under proactive disclosure of awards, are (1) transfers to other levels of government such as Equalization payments as well as Canada Health and Social Transfer payments. (2) Grants and contributions reallocated or otherwise redistributed by the recipient to third parties; and (3) information that would normally be withheld under the Access to Information Act and the Privacy Act.

This 48-month project will address organizational capacity needs to allow the organization to continue promoting social and systemic change towards gender equality. Organizational capacity will be enhanced through the following activities: develop and implement a capacity-building strategic plan, develop, and implement a strategic partnership plan, and the implementation of a human resource strategy for training and retention of board and advisory members, staff, and volunteers.
The organization has capitalized on increased opportunities/demand by expanding its outreach and supplementing its other project activities to benefit from this increased engagement through additional funding in the year 2020.
The supplemental funding and project extension will be used to develop and implement a succession plan. The plan will include core knowledge sharing with the identification of key roles, and the candidates who can pivot into the Foundation’s leadership roles. The funds will also facilitate the improvement of organizational capacity to conduct analyses of policies, programs and services, and to identify and remove barriers to provide these services within a optimally and scalable platform.

Strengthening Capacity of CCMW’s National Board and Chapters

This 48-month project will address organizational capacity needs to allow the organization to continue promoting social and systemic change towards gender equality. Organizational capacity will be enhanced through activities such as strategic and succession planning; partnership development; collaboration and networking; development of an advocacy strategy; implementation of result-based management; organizational financial health plan. The Canadian Council of Muslim Women will also undertake key activities towards its long-term sustainability. These will include developing capacity for fundraising; board governance; responsive human resources planning; and the strategic use of social media.
The first supplemental funding will be used to mitigate the impact that COVID-19 limitations have had on the project by allowing the organization to implement a fundraising plan and monitor achievement of goals set in the plan.
The second supplemental funding will be used for project activities such as developing a membership strategy and implementation plan to support chapters for long-term sustainability, this includes a Quebec-specific strategy and plan. Additionally, Board recruitment and development, and the development of a CCMW revenue generation policy, including partnerships with the private sector for long-term sustainability.

This 48-month project will address organizational capacity needs to allow the organization to continue promoting social and systemic change towards gender equality. Organizational capacity will be enhanced through the following activities: strategic and succession planning; partnership development, collaboration and networking; development of an advocacy strategy; implementation of result based management; organizational financial health and sustainability plan. The DisAbled Women’s Network (DAWN) Canada’s main objectives are to strengthen organizational capacity by improving governance, human resources, administrative practices and broadening its funding base. This will allow the organization to work more effectively with its network and partners in the women’s sector to address issues that affect women and girls with disabilities, as well as Deaf women and girls.
Supplemental funding in the amount of $150,000 will be used in the additional phase of the project to develop tools and mechanisms to operationalize implement plans developed in initial phase of the project. This will contribute to strengthen the work management and increase the impact of the organization’s activities. Management functions will be consolidated, and strategic and operational functions will be harmonized to allow for better implementation of the strategic plan. The organization will develop new partnerships and collaborations to expand its position as an expert and leader in the intersectional feminist cross-disability, right-based approach and diversify its funding sources. It will also adjust its advocacy approach and strategy taking into account new emerging priorities.

This 60-month project will address the Yellowknife Women’s Society’s capacity needs to allow them to continue promoting social and systemic change towards gender equality. The organization will be enhanced through human resources development; improved staff training, recruitment and retention; succession planning; and review of the compensation plan. In addition, they will evaluate past advocacy efforts and create an advocacy plan to improve the impact of future advocacy efforts to support women and their families in Yellowknife.
Supplemental funds will be used for a results-based evaluation and key networking activities to improve the Managed Alcohol Program, including the creation of an updated training model for staff delivering the program. Yellowknife Women’s Society will develop an “all-in one” handbook for staff guidance and orientation and build organizational capacity to increase revenue generation and financial sustainability

This 59-month project will address organizational capacity needs to allow GAFFO to continue contributing to gender equality. Organizational capacity will be enhanced through the following activities: strategic planning and enhanced board governance, succession planning, and the development of a sustainability plan that focuses on developing partnerships and sponsorships.
The additional funding for 2023 will be used to develop partnerships, collaboration and networking to increase the reach of GAFFO to strengthen collaborative networks with organizations focused on issues affecting immigrant women in Canada and to implement interventions to include OLMCs. The supplement will also be used for Board training on obtaining and managing grants.

This 59-month project will address organizational needs to enable the organization to continue contributing to gender equality. Organizational capacity will be enhanced through the following activities: strategic planning, the development of a networking strategy, and the development of a sustainability plan that includes communication strategies.
The additional amount granted will be used to undertake the necessary organizational management adjustments following the pandemic, develop a retention strategy for staff, administrators and volunteers, develop virtual service tools as well as new fundraising tools.
The second additional amount granted in 2023 will be used to develop a 2023-2024 operational plan; update La Maison's service delivery manual; update La Maison's visual identity and communications and promotional tools; and identify past and emerging issues and challenges and opportunities missed and to be seized through a review publication, a community orientation meeting, and a report compiling the recommendations that will guide La Maison's future internal functioning.
