Through this 17-month project, Providing Advocacy, Counselling & Education Society (PACE) will build its capacity to advance gender equality. It will address four urgent organizational needs and undertake a thorough strategic planning process.

The project will include completing a community needs assessment, restructuring organizational hierarchy, address workplace culture and establish processes to support staff wellness and retention, develop a concrete action plan to move offices and develop a new strategic plan.

Through this 18-month project, missINFORMED will build its capacity to advance gender equality by developing a sustainability strategy. This strategy will ensure the organization addresses the health and health system information needs of young women and gender diverse people across Canada. The project will leverage community-based insights, third-party expertise, and continuing education and networking to ensure a sustainable future for the organization to serve the community of women, girls, and gender-diverse young people in Canada.

Through this 17-month project, the Ontario Native Women’s Association will build its capacity to advance gender equality. It will address Indigenous women’s voices in leadership and decision-making roles and will enhance their capacity to better engage with all levels of government on issues related to human rights. To do so, the project will: 1) identify the needs and develop key messages and priorities grounded in the voices of Indigenous women to continue to refine ONWA’s positions on Indigenous women’s human rights; 2) develop resources and build Indigenous women’s capacity for leadership and advocacy about Indigenous women’s human rights; and 3) build on and strengthen partnerships to advance Indigenous women’s human rights.

This project aims to co-design a mental health app with agricultural producers, offering easy access to practical tools, local resources, and support tailored to the everyday realities of farming and ranching life. 

Immunotherapy has yielded disappointing results against ovarian cancer, prompting the need for bold new approaches. Chimeric Antigen Receptor (CAR) T cells have proven phenomenally successful against blood cancers but show poor efficacy against solid tumours. The NRC has created a nanobody-based, mesothelin-specific CAR (MesoCAR) to treat ovarian, pancreatic and other cancers. With Innovakine Therapeutics, the PI has developed an engineered cytokine receptor system that enables potent, clinician-controlled amplification of T cell responses in vivo. It is proposed to combine these technologies to create a Canadian-made CAR-T cell product that is safe, effective and affordable for the treatment of ovarian cancer. The project will engage in pre-clinical studies to assess the efficacy, safety and mechanistic features of this innovative therapeutic strategy and to develop cost-effective manufacturing methods for future clinical use. The project team is well-positioned to advance this world-first approach to early-stage, near-term clinical trials for the benefit of ovarian cancer patients.

This is an R&D project to test hypotheses and experiment with new mechanisms to design a repeatable and scalable business process and to develop IP in business methods.
