This project aims to enable adolescent girls to experience healthier, safer, and more empowered life transition into adulthood by 2030. Project activities include: (1) building the capacity of adolescent girls to exercise their rights and demand services related to their sexual and reproductive health; (2) engaging men, boys, and communities to support gender equality and the rights of adolescent girls; (3) ensuring the availability of commodities and supplies in local health facilities; (4) building the capacity of service providers at multiple levels to ensure availability of quality services related to gender-based prevention and response, social protection, and social justice; (5) addressing policy implementation, regulatory and accountability bottlenecks; (6) strengthening the capacity of institutions and regulatory bodies to coordinate and standardize delivery of quality services; and (7) encouraging meaningful participation of young people to demand accountability. The project targets 400,000 married and unmarried adolescent girls as direct beneficiaries, with special attention given to migrant girls and girls with disabilities.

This project operates in Sub-Saharan Africa, including in Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ethiopia, Mali, Mozambique, Niger, Nigeria, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan and Uganda..

With the support of Global Affairs Canada (GAC), WFP provides targeted food assistance to vulnerable populations to reduce acute malnutrition and food insecurity and protect livelihoods. Project activities include: (1)

Regenerative Forest Stewardship Research Project

The stream supports projects that:
• use innovative approaches or expand best practices to address challenges limiting apprenticeship outcomes in Red Seal trades
• involve broad-based partnerships between organizations across sectors, regions or trades

The Women in the Skilled Trades Initiative focuses on funding projects that recruit, retain, and help women apprentices succeed in the 39 eligible Red Seals trades found predominately in the construction and manufacturing sectors.

The initiative supports projects that:
• create partnerships with women’s groups, community colleges, unions or employers to recruit women;
• organize women-led events as an outreach tool to help attract women to the skilled trades;
• offer mentorship by female role models, women-in-the-skilled-trades networks, and opportunities to share success stories; and
• create a welcoming space where women can feel comfortable and safe in the training and work sites.

The objectives of the Program is to increase the production of alternate format reading materials for persons with print disabilities.

The Domestic Stream of SERP funds research and events in order to increase collaboration and strengthen relationships with key partners and stakeholders to better understand current and emerging employment and social development issues of importance to Canadians. The research projects and events funded will increase the body of knowledge available to all Canadians, and, improve decision-making processes for Canadians and Canadian policy makers.
