This project will offer training on coding, digital creation, AI education & STEM careers for K-12 students & teachers in remote regions & indigenous communities.

This project will include training 4 staff in the White Bison/Medicine Wheel training.

The purpose of the Indigenous Habitat Participation Program- Grant Funding is to meet the legal obligations to support the participation of Indigenous communities in consultations on Departmental Crown conduct (i.e., decisions, such as arrangements, approvals, authorizations and permits) under the Fisheries Act and/or Species at Risk Act.

This project aims to strengthen biodiversity conservation and build resilient ecosystems and communities. It benefits over 180,000 people in climate-vulnerable and marginalized communities, particularly indigenous communities, in all 3 districts of the Chittagong Hill Tracts region of Bangladesh. The project works with these communities to develop and implement community-based biodiversity conservation plans. Project activities include: (1) conducting capacity development training for community-based organizations, networks, and environmental groups.

The department has allocated 100,000 CAD in funds under Code Vote 10 to the Legal Bureau to support the UN’s Trust Fund. These funds will be used to assist in covering the participation costs of developing country members of the Commission on the Limits of the Continental Shelf (CLCS), a body managed by the UN Division for Ocean Affairs and the Law of the Sea (DOALOS).

The purpose of this allocation is to provide financial assistance to developing countries in their participation in the CLCS, which plays a crucial role in delineating the outer limits of continental shelves, contributing to sustainable ocean management and the implementation of international maritime law.

This project seeks to strengthen social cohesion and peaceful coexistence amongst different ethnic groups in Ethiopia’s Afar, Benishangul Gumuz, and Tigray regions. Project activities include:
(1) Conducting conflict and gender analysis in six conflict-affected districts in the targeted regions;
(2) Facilitating regular consultative workshops for formal and informal stakeholders, including federal, regional and district government officials, representatives of community-based organizations, and women and youth associations, on inclusive and gender-sensitive post-conflict interventions to guide and support this initiative throughout the project lifecycle;
(3) Training peace committee members and local government peace and security officers on early warning and response, and conflict prevention, management and resolution;
(4) Facilitating dialogue between different ethnic groups;
(5) Organizing public forums for local administrations and target communities;
(6) Providing trauma-affected individuals with inclusive community-based psychosocial support and referrals;
(7) Life skills and small business management training for trauma-affected individuals as well as the provision of seed money to facilitate the start-up of small businesses as peace dividends.

This project aims to reduce the threat posed by explosive remnants of war and improve the livelihoods of vulnerable populations in Cambodia. Project activities include: (1) surveying potential contaminated areas and conducting mine clearance operations; (2) delivering explosive ordnance risk education to impacted populations; (3) providing environmental awareness and agricultural development training to enhance the economic autonomy of women who both head households and own agricultural land; and (4) organizing and hosting an exhibition in Siem Reap on the margins of the 5th Review Conference of the Ottawa Treaty to promote the universalization of the Ottawa Treaty.
