Proposal for the Canada Water Act Review: Pre-Engagement Funding

To establish dedicated production capacity supported by advanced machining, automated inspection, and compliance processes to enable diversification into new markets.

This project aims to enhance harm reduction and outreach services in Peterborough, Ontario, by addressing service gaps for high-risk populations, including those facing homelessness and substance use issues. Through multi-partner collaboration, the initiative will improve service accessibility with new outreach vans, enhance safety with security systems, provide essential supplies to build trust with vulnerable populations, and expand training to increase staff capacity in harm reduction efforts.

This project will scale-up and magnify existing Crisis and Outreach/System Navigation Services by immediately hiring 1 Front-line Supervisor/Counsellor and 2.6 Frontline FTEs, as well as adding security measures such as locks, alarm systems and cameras to the physical space and retrofitting the current leased space to include a private counselling room.

As part of the flood reduction strategy for Jackson Creek, this project will replace the existing storm sewer with 100 year capacity storm sewer on Charlotte Street from Park Street to Water Street significantly reducing the impact of flooding in Peterborough's downtown core.

The Town of Saint Andrews, wants to install a new active transportation corridor along the southwestern side of Prince of Wales Street, from the intersection of King Street to Water Street at Indian Point Park. The project would include the widening of the street with the installation of new curb and sidewalk for 850 meters. In addition, the Town would like to install a new washroom facility and bike repair station at the end of the corridor to further support the community in active transportation activities, as the corridor leads to our largest park in the town.
