This project aims to of reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emission and sequester carbon (C) in agricultural systems within Nova Scotia through implementing and funding climate safe practices and educating farmers and industry on climate safe practices of three beneficial management practices (BMP) including rotational grazing, cover cropping, and nitrogen (N) management, including further distributing funds to Ultimate Recipients and overseeing and monitoring the progress of the activities undertaken by these Ultimate Recipients;

This project aims to support Newfoundland and Labrador agriculture producers by sustainably enhancing production in the island’s notoriously rocky, nutrient-poor soils and Labrador’s low organic sandy soils, including further distributing funds to Ultimate Recipients for the adoption and on-farm implementation of eligible beneficial management practices (BMP) and overseeing and monitoring the progress of the activities undertaken by these Ultimate Recipients;

The Rotary Park Access Improvement and Revitalization Project aims to increase access to nature by constructing hybrid infrastructure and filling the shoreline with bird-attracting trees and shrubs to mitigate flooding, slow coastal erosion, and create a healthy and resilient riparian zone in a 20-acre salt marsh estuary home to over 120 bird species and a 4-acre riparian area, located near downtown Bouctouche.

This project will be the construction of a coastal natural infrastructure site ; a combination of a living shoreline, nearshore breakwater, tidal wetland, and raised dyke along 100m of Edgewater Street in Mahone Bay.

This project will use natural and hybrid infrastructure for the conversion of hardscape and urban heat island parking lot in the form of a rooftop garden by constructing a rooftop garden and balcony areas of approximately 8250 square feet, a green roof and the attendant irrigation, support, soil media and stormwater management systems, planting trees and plantings that are native to both Southern Ontario and Estonia with focus on biodiversity, greenery, apiary, pollinating gardens, bird habitat, and supporting it’s accessibility by installing design elements such as walkways, signage, benches, garbage bins and lighting.

This project will establish an Indigenous food forest and rain gardens at Cheakamus Centre fields school and ecological reserve to restore, enhance and better protect the campus’ 165 ha rich natural environment. The food forest will be a low-maintenance, self-sustaining natural space that will include interpretative signage to allow students and visitors to discover and contemplate in nature as well as revitalize traditional food and land-based knowledge.

The Village of Carmacks and LSCFN has been experiencing serious and disruptive flooding of the downtown core, several homes, cabins and fish camps, as well as essential services over the past several years. The Community Flooding in Carmacks and Little Salmon Carmacks First Nation project would create permanent flood mitigation structures in the community by raising a crucial roadway along River Drive, and building structural dikes along the Yukon River.
This project aims to prevent flooding of properties including the recreation complex and municipal services building, the health centre, fire hall and police station, as well as several homes and businesses. It would also see improvements to the communities wastewater treatment system, which has been infiltrated and overburdened in previous flooding events, leading to direct sewage discharge into the Yukon River, backups and boil water advisories.

Over two years, the planting of 1,150 trees will occur throughout the City of Saint John in line with our Common Council Priorities and Municipal Plan. Activities will include following the City's procurement procedure to engage a third party contractor to complete the project. Additionally City staff will work with the Atlantic Coastal Action Program (ACAP) to perform commissioning, testing and inventory to integrate these assets into our Asset Management Plan to perform lifecycle management.

This Project aims to develop a novel approach to quantum error correction (QEC) by directly representing code spaces with tensor networks. This flexible framework extends beyond traditional stabilizer codes, enabling the discovery of more efficient non-additive QEC codes and those associated with local gapped Hamiltonians. The Project focuses on developing a rigorous theoretical framework, connecting it to existing QEC methods, designing novel codes using variational methods, reinforcement learning (RL), and quantum algorithms, and exploring the relationship between these codes and parent Hamiltonians. Combining theoretical development, computational techniques, and practical implementation, the Project will deliver new theoretical tools, optimized QEC constructions, efficient encoding/decoding algorithms, and open-source software. This effort addresses critical challenges of noise and scalability, advancing faulttolerant quantum computing and contributing to robust quantum technologies.
