Over the next five fiscal years, Prince Edward Island will deliver direct services to victims of crime to support the Canadian Victims Bill of Rights, the provincial Victims of Crime Act and the Victims of Family Violence Act. The project will support a Deputy Sheriff position to produce greater results in the area of restitution enforcement for victims of crime. As well, the project will provide child-friendly waiting rooms, interpretation/translation services and testimonial aids and enhancements to virtual court technology and video conferencing, thereby providing a quality experience for vulnerable witnesses.

Over the next five fiscal years, the project will support direct services to victims of crime in three regions of Prince Edward Island, contributing to increasing the province's capacity to implement victim-related legislation; increasing access and delivery of victim services; increasing victims participation in the criminal justice system; and, increasing awareness and understanding among criminal justice personnel, service providers and victims on issues, legislation and available services to victims.

Provide financial assistance to an individual Canadian victim of a specified serious violent crime in a foreign jurisdiction for emergency situations of undue hardship where no other source of financial assistance is available (specified categories of crimes are homicide, sexual assault, aggravated assault or assault with serious personal violence, or threat of serious violence, including against a child) or to an individual support person to accompany, attend with or support a Canadian victimized in a foreign jurisdiction. A total of 21 individuals were approved to receive financial assistance in this regard.

Provide financial assistance to an individual victim or support person (as defined in the Corrections and Conditional Release Act and who are registered with Correctional Service Canada or the Parole Board of Canada), to attend Parole Board of Canada hearings in respect of the offender who harmed them.

Impact of Race and Culture Assessments (IRCAs) are reports that assist courts in considering the effects that racism and other unique circumstances experienced by Black persons and other racialized minorities have contributed to their contact with the criminal justice system. The provision of funding to legal aid plans and jurisdiction(s), over five years, is for the reimbursement of eligible expenses in the preparation of IRCAs to eligible legal aid clients and related training activities.

The purpose of this CanExport SMEs agreement is to support small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) for activities related to export market development that are part of an export business case for a specific target market, particularly where activities are targeting departmental priority markets and sectors.

Development of AI-enabled capabilities within PiinPoint’s mapping platform to support automated data discovery, preparation, and analysis, and to enhance workflows for managing and evaluating real estate opportunities.

The purpose of this CanExport SMEs agreement is to support small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) for activities related to export market development that are part of an export business case for a specific target market, particularly where activities are targeting departmental priority markets and sectors.

This project will evaluate and enhance the structure and quality of system data to ensure it can support future advanced software capabilities.
