Germany ZIM project WATPHY with German partners Vanguard Automation and Fraunhofer to address the scaling needs of Data-Centres - components and processes will be developed for attaching laser diodes (LDs) and optical fibers to photonic integrate circuits (PICs). The processes will apply 3D-printed nano-optics (Photonic Wirebonds - PWBs). The processes will utilize separately bonded, burned-in and pre-tested lasers on micro-carriers for maximum post-attach yield.

This project will provide proof-of-concept evidence for the safety and efficacy for the prophylactic and therapeutic use of a lung-directed immunomodulator, to prevent serious COVID-19 infection.

Cameo Sensor Science is a company with a focus on providing strain gauge sensors for the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT). The hardwaresSensors that have served 4iiii in the cycling industry have been adapted for use in the IIoT market, by doing a few key hardware and software changes.

This project involves the prototyping and testing of a wireless and rechargeable IoT module for industrial applications using a novel rapid-stick strain sensor for industries such as infrastructure, construction, transportation.
This is a very diversified market ranging from sensors on rotating equipment, to building monitoring, to railway cars and tracks to automotive, and even waste disposal technologies.

Mountain Integrated Medical Devices (MIMD) is an Edmonton-based contract manufacturer of medical devices with ISO 13485 certification, ISO 7 clean room, Health Canada Registered Establishment and Registered FDA Establishment. Due to increased demand in production capacity of COVID-19 related products, the Firm intends to undertake R&D to evaluate a number of different potential scale up solutions. This will help determine whether a given scale up solution: (i) solves the correct issue, (ii) works for a particular product, (iii) is cost efficient and the best solution, and (iv) can be used across multiple product lines.

Story City is a marketplace and GPS app for location-based storytelling with each adventure experience through city streets only opening if you’re in the right location. Currently no marketplace exists that connects Municipalities & businesses with content creators for regular, new, locative digital content that drives foot traffic, and engagement in the real world via mobile device. The Story City marketplace will remove the tech from the equation, allowing creatives to use the methods they already use to create and sell for the space.

Vaultt requires a user-friendly and low friction sign-up and customized onboarding processes on its secure caregiver platform to improve user conversion and retention and facilitate entry into the home care market.

Bench Brewing aims to combine laboratory processes and brewing production to maintain and discover new efficiencies and flavours though means of in-house yeast propagation. We will be developing new processes to grow both domesticated and wild foraged/indigenous yeast strains to be used in our commercial and small-batch and barrel-aged beers.
