The purpose of the Indigenous Habitat Participation Program- Grant Funding is to meet the legal obligations to support the participation of Indigenous communities in consultations on Departmental Crown conduct (i.e., decisions, such as arrangements, approvals, authorizations and permits) under the Fisheries Act and/or Species at Risk Act.

DFATD will support the Canada Learning Initiative in China (CLIC)'s activities for the implementation of the CLIC 1,000 Student Celebration Workshop and the administration of bursaries to the Canadian Alumni Delegates to attend the Forum.

This project aims to improve the safety, security, and well-being of forcibly displaced women in Mexico, by facilitating access to comprehensive support systems and integration programs. Project activities include: (1) liaising with relevant government authorities to identify women displaced by violence who need to be relocated to ensure their safety; (2) providing women with safe transport to new cities, temporary housing upon arrival, and assistance in securing long-term housing; (3) providing psychosocial support and counseling sessions with women participants; (4) referring women participants to vocational training and skills development programs; (5) facilitating job placement meetings between women participants and private sector employers; (6) supporting the enrollment process for relocated children in local schools; and (7) conducting advocacy and awareness-raising workshops to improve policies and programs targeting the integration of displaced populations. The project benefits 100 forcibly displaced women in Mexico who are survivors of gender-based violence and are taking part in the UN Refugee Agency’s Local Integration Program.

Particularly, it focuses on the women, family and generation provision. This provision positions the spirituality, lived experiences of ethnic women, and intergenerational processes at the centre of policy and decision-making. In addition, the project works to build Afro-Colombian and Indigenous women’s capacities to access and meaningfully engage in ongoing and emerging peace processes.

Advancing Boreal Caribou Conservation on the Traditional Territory of the Mikisew Cree First Nation

This work will engage two Yukon First Nation (YFN) communities to identify
desired outcomes and concerns surrounding wastewater and environmental
monitoring (WEM).

The project will support development of intellectual property capacity within the firm.

Delegation led by the National Research Council of Canada Industrial Research Assistance Program (NRC IRAP) to develop international partnerships and potential project ideas under the Eureka Programs.
