Funding will support concept development to identify solutions to National Defence’s Challenge: Counter Uncrewed Aerial Systems Concept Development 2023. Defence Research and Development Canada and its defence and security partners are seeking Counter Uncrewed Aerial Systems solutions that can detect and/or defeat Micro and Mini Uncrewed Aerial Systems with systems that can be integrated into the broader military command and control systems.

The project will develop a new Guided Pathway to help tenants across Ontario increase their awareness and knowledge of their rights and how to enforce them.

The National Judicial Institute will develop online training in English and French for Canadian judges on the UN Declaration. Training modules will be developed through engagement with Indigenous communities, leaders and Elders, and Indigenous judges. The training will encompass the UN Declaration, Indigenous Laws, and the UN Declaration in relation to criminal law, child welfare, property rights, and self-governance.

The findings from this project will contribute to the understanding of how the immune system ages here on Earth.

Satellites are critical infrastructure in our technologically advancing world. Daily, we use satellites to navigate, predict weather, and communicate. A successful cyberattack against space infrastructure could be devastating to modern society. To prevent such an attack, satellites encrypt their communications using keys loaded before launch. If those keys are compromised after launch, there is no way to load new keys. QEYnet is developing a solution to this problem using quantum key distribution (QKD). In QKD, keys are sent to the satellite using photons. Due to the laws of quantum mechanics, any attempt at eavesdropping on a QKD system can be detected, making the keys highly secure. QEYnet has developed a lowcost,
space based QKD receiver. A test flight of this technology will enable evaluation of
system performance in the target environment, demonstration of on-orbit rekeying, demonstration of key distribution between locations on Earth, and customer trials with this cutting-edge technology.

The specific objectives of this funding opportunity are:
• To provide recognition and funding to academic health research trainees;
• To provide a reliable supply of highly skilled and qualified researchers.
