About this information
In June 2016, as part of the Open Government Action Plan, the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat (TBS) committed to increasing the transparency and usefulness of grants and contribution data and subsequently launched the Guidelines on the Reporting of Grants and Contributions Awards, effective April 1, 2018.
The rules and principles governing government grants and contributions are outlined in the Treasury Board Policy on Transfer Payments. Transfer payments are transfers of money, goods, services or assets made from an appropriation to individuals, organizations or other levels of government, without the federal government directly receiving goods or services in return, but which may require the recipient to provide a report or other information subsequent to receiving payment. These expenditures are reported in the Public Accounts of Canada. The major types of transfer payments are grants, contributions and \'other transfer payments\'.
Included in this category, but not to be reported under proactive disclosure of awards, are (1) transfers to other levels of government such as Equalization payments as well as Canada Health and Social Transfer payments. (2) Grants and contributions reallocated or otherwise redistributed by the recipient to third parties; and (3) information that would normally be withheld under the Access to Information Act and the Privacy Act.

Project Compass: Paths to Response, Relevance, and Reconciliation

Through this 31-month project, True North Society will build its capacity to advance gender equality by addressing the increasingly acute and complex needs related to family violence. True North is uniquely positioned to grow their services to create a continuum of care that will address unmet needs along a spectrum and optimize their capacity to effectively prevent and address family violence. This project will involve conducting a needs assessment, engaging in operational, resource development and communications strategic planning, as well as enhancing organizational capacity in the areas of board governance, human resources and partnership and program development. By the project’s conclusion, the organization will have significantly improved its ability to provide comprehensive, sustainable, and scalable support to women and children experiencing family violence in the Rockyview, Wheatland, Kneehill, and Vulcan Counties, ensuring a more effective and coordinated response to these critical issues.
With the supplemental funds and extension provided in early 2026, True North Society will strengthen board governance and strategic leadership through increasing supports to Board Governance, the development and implementation of a strategic plan (2027-2030) and increase organizational capacity through regional and provincial partnership collaboration as well as measuring project impact. Through this they will further advance Gender Equality.

Updating the feminist intersectional approach in the fight against sexual assault

Through this 31-month project, the CALACS francophone d'Ottawa will build its capacity to advance gender equality. It will address the need to update and deepen the intersectional feminist analysis that guides some of the organization's core foundations. The project will include identifying gaps and issues that need to be updated according to an intersectional feminist approach specific to the CALACS; developing the tools and acquiring the feminist knowledge needed to update the organization's practices, policies and tools; and updating, implementing and evaluating these practices, policies and tools according to the intersectional feminist approach that was developed.
With the supplemental funds and extention provided in early 2026,the CALACS francophone d’Ottawa will be able to update and implement a fully revised and structured version of its basic training, integrating the intersectional feminist approach developed within the framework of the ongoing project in a consistent and sustainable manner. Through this the will advance of gender equality.
