The Project Grant program is expected to:

The specific objectives of this funding opportunity are:
• To provide recognition and funding to academic health research trainees;
• To provide a reliable supply of highly skilled and qualified researchers.

The expected deliverables for this project are:
a. A completely redesigned optical and mechanical front-end
b. An engineering model QRx-35 to be used for functional and performance testing purposes
c. A completed test campaign and associated test reports including conclusions and lessons learned
d. A prioritized list of design enhancements arising from the test campaign and a plan to address them.

The Nova Scotia Native Women's Association is hosting healing gatherings for families impacted by the loss of a loved one or missing family member. The gatherings will bring together families from each of the thirteen Indigenous bands, including Halifax and Sydney regions, to share new ideas of ways of healing through the land and cultural practices. The goal is to host a healing gathering during the Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter months. After year four, the coordinator will host one final gathering to highlight the stories and dialogue sessions that they agree to share. The final gathering will be aimed at identifying needs-based recommendations that are unique to each person’s experience. The families will learn how to harvest materials, identify culturally significant tree species, and participate in talking circles that promote healing. The organization recognizes that there are many Indigenous people across Nova Scotia that have gifts, wisdom, and knowledge to share that have the potential to greatly benefit and help others along their healing journey.

Provide financial assistance to an individual Canadian victim of a specified serious violent crime in a foreign jurisdiction for emergency situations of undue hardship where no other source of financial assistance is available (specified categories of crimes are homicide, sexual assault, aggravated assault or assault with serious personal violence, or threat of serious violence, including against a child) or to an individual support person to accompany, attend with or support a Canadian victimized in a foreign jurisdiction. A total of 15 individuals were approved for financial assistance in this regard.

Provide financial assistance to an individual victim or support person (as defined in the Corrections and Conditional Release Act and who are registered with Correctional Service Canada or the Parole Board of Canada), to attend Parole Board of Canada hearings in respect of the offender who harmed them. A total of 63 individuals were approved for financial assistance in this regard.

The "Healing Hearts: Empowering Indigenous Families" project will provide culturally grounded, community-based support and assistance to families of missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, Boys, Two-Spirit Individuals, and LGBTQ+ people. The initiative offers comprehensive services including community healing spaces, grief and loss counseling, peer support networks, cultural preservation and education, advocacy and legal support, and outreach and awareness campaigns.
