• Support a diverse portfolio of health-related research and knowledge translation proposals at any stage, from discovery to application, including commercialization;

The CIHR Research Initiative on Health and Official Languages in Minority Communities supports research which enhances the vitality of the English and French linguistic minority communities in Canada, supports and assist their development, and fosters full recognition and use of both English and French in Canadian society. Funding will be provided for applications that are determined to be relevant to the scope of this initiative and the following research areas:
• Determinants of health, including sex and gender;
• Health service governance, management and delivery;
• Language, culture and health - understanding of the effects of the minority linguistic and cultural experience on identity development and health;
• Relationships between access to health services in one's language of choice and quality of care;
• Access to care;
• Impacts of access to care for mental health.

The CIHR HIV/AIDS and Sexually Transmitted and Blood-Borne Infections (STBBI) Research Initiative, under the leadership of the CIHR Institute of Infection and Immunity (CIHR-III), is responsible for funding research on human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), hepatitis B (HBV) and C (HCV), chlamydia, gonorrhea, syphilis, and human papilloma virus (HPV). This funding is provided across all CIHR research themes: biomedical research, clinical research, health services research and social, cultural, environmental and population health research.
Research that focuses on key populations disproportionately affected by HIV/AIDS and STBBI is highly encouraged.
In alignment with CIHR's commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI) in the research system, the Research Initiative champions EDI as a means to support excellence in research, training and knowledge mobilization. Therefore, we encourage people from diverse backgrounds, including groups underrepresented in science such as women and racial and ethnic minorities, to apply.
This priority announcement will prioritize funding for research on HIV/AIDS and/or STBBI aligned with the CIHR HIV/AIDS Research Initiative: Strategic Plan (2022-2027) in the following research areas:
• Improving health equity by advancing research to understand and address determinants of health, new models of care, or sexual and reproductive health for people living with or at risk of HIV/AIDS and STBBI; or
• Accelerating discovery and innovation by advancing research on innovative technologies for testing and surveillance, interactions among infections and co-morbidities, or design and development of next-generation interventions.

The CIHR Institute of Human Development, Child and Youth Health (CIHR-IHDCYH) will provide bridge funding for an application by a¿mid-career researcher¿that is relevant to the Institute's¿mandate:

• As a lifecycle-based Institute, IHDCYH has a broad mandate that covers defined time periods and a wide range of issues pertaining to human development: pre-conception; fertilization; embryonic and fetal development; the health of the mother and father; and the health and development of infants, children, and youth.

The CIHR Institute of Infection and Immunity (CIHR-III) has a mandate to support research,build research capacity and mobilize knowledge in the areas of infectious disease and the body's immune system. This priority announcement has a primary focus on biomedical research in which the objective and aims are directed towards building foundational knowledge in immunology and/or infectious diseases. Funding will be provided for applications that specifically align with III’s mandate and one or more of the following priority areas:

• Infection:
o Zoonotic or vector-borne transmission of pathogens in the context of Global Climate Change;
o Understanding functional genomics and/or molecular epidemiology of emerging/re-emerging pathogens;
o Resistance to fungal infections and/or the role of bacteriophages in combatting antimicrobial resistance.
• Immunity:
o Immune mechanisms involved in the development of trained innate immunity;
o Immune mechanisms involved in the development and maintenance of tissue-specific immunity;
o Metabolic regulation of immune cells and processes (immunometabolism).

The specific objectives of this funding opportunity are to:

• Strengthen and build capacity within communities for CBR and KM that delivers impactful, useful, and timely results for populations at greatest risk of STBBI in Canada;
• Advance community-centred approaches to STBBI research by establishing meaningful partnerships between communities and researchers from academic or other research institutions; and
• Improve health equity by conducting, enabling and/or facilitating access to research that addresses structural, social, behavioural, and biomedical determinants of health for key populations affected by STBBI.

The specific objectives of this funding opportunity are to:

• Strengthen and build capacity within communities for CBR and KM that delivers impactful, useful, and timely results for populations at greatest risk of STBBI in Canada;
• Advance community-centred approaches to STBBI research by establishing meaningful partnerships between communities and researchers from academic or other research institutions; and
• Improve health equity by conducting, enabling and/or facilitating access to research that addresses structural, social, behavioural, and biomedical determinants of health for key populations affected by STBBI.

The specific objectives of this funding opportunity are to:

• Strengthen and build capacity within communities for CBR and KM that delivers impactful, useful, and timely results for populations at greatest risk of STBBI in Canada;
• Advance community-centred approaches to STBBI research by establishing meaningful partnerships between communities and researchers from academic or other research institutions; and
• Improve health equity by conducting, enabling and/or facilitating access to research that addresses structural, social, behavioural, and biomedical determinants of health for key populations affected by STBBI.

The CIHR Institute of Nutrition, Metabolism and Diabetes (CIHR-INMD) will provide funding for applications in which the objectives and aims are determined to be largely and directly relevant to the INMD mandate as described below:

• CIHR-INMD supports research to enhance health in relation to diet, digestion, excretion, and metabolism; and to address causes, prevention, screening, diagnosis, treatment, support systems, and palliation for a wide range of conditions and problems associated with hormone, digestive system, kidney, and liver.
