About this information
In June 2016, as part of the Open Government Action Plan, the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat (TBS) committed to increasing the transparency and usefulness of grants and contribution data and subsequently launched the Guidelines on the Reporting of Grants and Contributions Awards, effective April 1, 2018.
The rules and principles governing government grants and contributions are outlined in the Treasury Board Policy on Transfer Payments. Transfer payments are transfers of money, goods, services or assets made from an appropriation to individuals, organizations or other levels of government, without the federal government directly receiving goods or services in return, but which may require the recipient to provide a report or other information subsequent to receiving payment. These expenditures are reported in the Public Accounts of Canada. The major types of transfer payments are grants, contributions and \'other transfer payments\'.
Included in this category, but not to be reported under proactive disclosure of awards, are (1) transfers to other levels of government such as Equalization payments as well as Canada Health and Social Transfer payments. (2) Grants and contributions reallocated or otherwise redistributed by the recipient to third parties; and (3) information that would normally be withheld under the Access to Information Act and the Privacy Act.

Through this 32-month systemic change project, Environmental Careers Organization Of Canada (ECO) will scale the Women Reclaiming Leadership in Environmental and Engineering Industry project to Canada’s Occean and Agriculture/Agri-food sectors. The project aims to address systemic barriers and promote women's representation in leadership and decision-making roles within these industries. To do so, the project will leverage the lessons and resources from its previous success, creating an advisory committee and conducting comprehensive baseline reviews and surveys to establish evidence-based best practices. An employer resource toolkit will be developed to assist organizations in implementing diversity and inclusion programs to support women's leadership aspirations.

Relationship Building and Community Development towards Combatting GBV through a Multi-Cultural Lens

Through this 32-month project, African Women Alliance of Waterloo Region will build its capacity to advance gender equality and address the multi-cultural and culturally sensitive gaps in communication among stakeholders such as mainstream organizations, the Waterloo Region Police Service, African cultural associations, volunteers, the government and the community. The project will include needs assessment, development and implementation of the multi-cultural strategy, developing a system for collecting and managing data for better decision-making, and design and dissemination of resources to address GBV within the African Community in Waterloo Region
With the Supplemental funds and extension provided in early 2026, the African Women Alliance of Waterloo Region will begin implementing the GBV strategy developed during Phase 1 by 1) strengthening internal trauma informed systems and staff wellness capacity, 2) enhancing understanding of emerging GBV trends through youth and family engagement, and 3) expanding community engagement through empowerment tools, an online resource hub, and ambassador training.
