This 3 year project is to build on the work previously accomplished within the last two funding cycles (2021-22 & 2022-23). The initial funding cycle for 2021-22 established the foundation in the form of an enhanced governance construct for SARVAC, as well as the development of a National SAR Operations Concept (NSOC). This project proposes to continue to enhance SARVAC’s capabilities, with a focus on evolving capacity to provide rapid emergency management response with a particular emphasis on building capacity to respond to both large-scale events as well as sustainable responses in small remote and marginalized communities.

The project intends to maintain and strengthen the Canadian Red Cross’ (CRC) capacity and competencies to respond rapidly and effectively to all-hazard emergency events across Canada in order to meet the increasing needs of affected people in a changing risk environment, including the specific needs of differentially impacted, diverse, at-risk communities.

This 3-year project intends to finalize development and implementation of the Emergency Response Units (ERUs), which is a continuation from the previous two cycles of funding (2021-22 and 2022-23), enabling St. John Ambulance (SJA) to maintain critical capabilities for all-hazards response across Canada. The ERUs in Canada respond to municipal, provincial/territorial, and federal requests for assistance during natural disasters and human emergencies. Currently, St. John Ambulance is nationalizing its existing workforce and building a larger program to contribute to the health of all people, including the creation of safe spaces and increased cultural competencies toward working with vulnerable communities such as, but not limited to, Indigenous communities.

The project Operation: Red Shield Readiness aims to increase the Salvation Army's capacity to support community risk reduction and emergency management response to all-hazard events. This includes addressing the specific needs of communities that face social, cultural, and economic marginalization.

This federal–provincial/territorial agreement is to support eligible organizations providing existing crisis hotlines responding to gender-based violence (GBV) that are experiencing a rise in demand for service provision due to the COVID-19 pandemic by agreeing on the term of payments for federal funding intended for these eligible organizations.

This 12-months project will address organizational capacity needs to allow the organization to continue promoting social and systemic change towards gender equality. Organization capacity will be enhanced through the following activities: updating and adapting SWIM programming to the context of return to in-person meetings; developing a communications strategy to promote SWIM programs and services; creating a web-based tool to enhance office scheduling efficiency; and relaunching SWIM programs with the newly developed tools.
