This 33-month project will be a scale-up of YWCA Metro Vancouver’s previously funded systemic change project, City Shift. Specifically, the project will expand its reach with new audiences, new partnerships with additional municipalities, and will leverage a new suite of resources with the goal of fostering more inclusive and equitable city planning and policy development. This project will create and pilot a peer advocacy prototype partner with new municipalities to pilot Gender-Based Analysis Plus; create a peer advocacy learning module that can be used in future systems-change projects; and expand its reach with the inclusion of more cities through the development and implementation of new resources and workshops. Through expanded government relations and public engagement strategies, the project will centre participant stories to reach new audiences and help create the communities deserved by all.

This 33-month systemic change project will help increase women’s representation in leadership roles in corporate Canada, with a focus on growing the share of women from underrepresented groups in those positions. The project will share evidence-based and community-informed actionable measures for corporation in two major industries to implement so that they can address the following barriers: hiring and promotion bias, recruitment of women (especially women with intersecting identities), and inequitable compensation. Additionally, the project will work with the federal government to develop incentives to encourage companies beyond the federally regulated sectors to also disclose their gender-disaggregated data. Finally, the project will deliver a public awareness campaign that seeks to increase positive sentiment held by Canadians for the advancement of women in the workplace and a recognition that when women succeed, all Canadians benefit. An external evaluator will measure and assess the impact of the systemic change project.

Through this 33-month project, Sayaspora will build its capacity to advance women’s equality. It will address governance, financial resources, partnerships, and human resources management. The project will include strengthening organizational governance and resources, strengthening financial partnerships, increasing collaboration and developing a feminist network of partners supporting women from the African diaspora in Canada, and developing and implementing strategies to increase the organization’s visibility and improve human resources management.

Building the capacities and increasing the economic and social inclusion of young people and women with disabilities through various practical training courses, networking and conferences on the rights of people with disabilities.

Combatting child labour and exploitation on mining sites by raising awareness among families and the population and by taking concrete schooling actions.
