Grants and Contributions
About this information
In June 2016, as part of the Open Government Action Plan, the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat (TBS) committed to increasing the transparency and usefulness of grants and contribution data and subsequently launched the Guidelines on the Reporting of Grants and Contributions Awards, effective April 1, 2018.
The rules and principles governing government grants and contributions are outlined in the Treasury Board Policy on Transfer Payments. Transfer payments are transfers of money, goods, services or assets made from an appropriation to individuals, organizations or other levels of government, without the federal government directly receiving goods or services in return, but which may require the recipient to provide a report or other information subsequent to receiving payment. These expenditures are reported in the Public Accounts of Canada. The major types of transfer payments are grants, contributions and \'other transfer payments\'.
Included in this category, but not to be reported under proactive disclosure of awards, are (1) transfers to other levels of government such as Equalization payments as well as Canada Health and Social Transfer payments. (2) Grants and contributions reallocated or otherwise redistributed by the recipient to third parties; and (3) information that would normally be withheld under the Access to Information Act and the Privacy Act.

CO2 Carbon Capture Prototype
1018182
CO2Brew offers a carbon dioxide (CO2) recovery system specially designed for smaller, craft-sized breweries to ensure a continuous and self-sufficient supply of beverage quality CO2. The unit allows craft brewers to recover high purity CO2 from the fermentation process and store it in liquid form for reuse in the brewery to offset the purchase of industrial CO2 normally derived from hydrocarbons and/or sell excess produced CO2. This will reduce the overall CO2 emissions in the brewing industry and provide a potential secondary revenue stream for brewers. By implementing CO2Brew’s carbon capture technology, the brewing industry has the potential to reduce its emissions by 350,000-750,000 lbs. per brewery per year.

Intelligent In-App Real-Time Audio Recording for Safety Meetings
1018256
Film industry clientele have indicated the need for intelligent recording, documentation, and conversion to text for in-field safety meetings. These meetings are recorded in a variety of environmental conditions, often offline and out of cell coverage, and on a simple mobile phone. Our proposed solution involves developing new, specific algorithms to process the audio recordings directly on the device, to enhance audio clarity through built for purpose sophisticated filtering, and to convert the audio into text format. This conversion will eliminate irrelevant data from the audio that does not pertain to the safety meeting, ensuring the capability to ultimately delivery clear, concise, and relevant safety information to all crew members.
