This 13-month project will allow the Canadian Research Institute for the Advancement of Women (CRIAW) to support the capacity of national women’s organizations that focus on key areas such as justice, leadership, sexual and reproductive health and rights, and gender-based violence. This will be achieved through the further distribution of funds to selected national women’s organizations, taking into consideration those who advance equality for underrepresented women, to implement activities to reinforce their capacities.

The ''Justice and Fight against Impunity in Haiti (JISTIS)'' project, implemented by LWBC, is centered in an approach called ''empowerment through law'' for the most vulnerable people, in particular women, displaced and rural populations, and victims of gender-based violence (GBV). An empowerment through law approach enables people to acquire a better knowledge of their rights and of justice mechanisms and helps build the capacities of those providing legal aid and judicial assistance services.

The project will support the Government of Angola’s efforts to create regional stability through inclusive dialogue, conflict resolution, and mediation. It will be framed by the Luanda Peace Process, an Angolan initiative to establish and implement sustained peace between the Governments of DRC and Rwanda. Following recent decisions by regional bodies and the AU, the Luanda process is to be merged with the Nairobi process which had been led by the Kenyan government. This investment will support Angolan engagement in this new merged process focused on peace mediation for the crisis in the DRC. The project will also establish a Centre of Excellence for Peace and Reconciliation, build capacity in the Angolan Ministry of External Relations to support inclusive peace building and conflict resolution, and provide administrative, logistical, and advisory support for mediation dialogues and verification missions. These efforts will strengthen the role of the AU Champion of Peace and Reconciliation which is held by Angolan President João Lourenço.

The basic health package includes services such as maternal and newborn child health care, immunization, treatment for infectious diseases, family planning, and support for survivors of sexual and gender-based violence. To enhance sustainability, the World Bank collaborates with the Ministry of Health in co-financing efforts and capacity-building initiatives.

Project activities will include: (1) Delivery of on-site training on safe handling, disposal, and analysis of synthetic drugs and precursor chemicals; (2) Facilitate and convene discussions with key authorities involved in dismantling synthetic drug laboratories and handling chemical precursors; and (3) Development of a curricula meant for sharing lessons learned and best practices based on current collaborative work and gender responsive mechanisms.

The project aims at improving the resilience of agricultural livelihoods, particularly for women, by promoting the adoption of gender-responsive climate-smart agriculture practices.

This project aims to improve biodiversity and key ecosystem health along Honduras’ Atlantic and Pacific coasts using nature-based solutions. It responds directly to Canada’s commitment to the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework to safeguard and restore biodiversity. The project focuses on people dependent on these ecosystems, particularly women, youth, and Indigenous and Afro-descendant peoples, whose livelihoods remain threatened by climate change, habitat loss, and ecosystem degradation. Project activities include: (1) strengthening protected areas governance and management; (2) restoring ecosystems and recovering threatened species through nature-based solutions; (3) improving agroforestry, agriculture, ecotourism and cattle ranching sustainability through model nature-based solutions; (4) strengthening public sector biodiversity policy framework; and (5) enhancing women’s empowerment and Indigenous people’s rights.

Activities include: (1) Technical assistance to support the mainstreaming of gender equality in policymaking; (2) Organize workshops among the public and private sectors on leading practice in ethics and human rights; (3) Provide technical assistance to targeted civil society organizations in monitoring of the implementation of development policies; (4) Mentor select civil servants in community engagement and women’s empowerment.

Activities include: (1) Deliver capacity building workshop for Ministry of Education staff on creating a national vocational qualification framework; (2) Conduct a stakeholder consultation with Ministry of Education and training institutions to understand the requirements of quality assurance systems; (3) Review and update the Mongolia gender equality strategy for technical and vocational training and education.

The grant would then help leveraging gender-responsive climate finance into these CEs; (3) Providing trainings and support services for WISE and other local women`s business support organizations to strengthen their capacity to translate between gender and finance to promote gender lens investing in Vietnam.
