The Upgrade and Hosting of Gladue Principles Website (www.gladueprinciples.ca) project will consist of upgrading revised content (to be provided to Justice Canada) to new Chinuk Content Management System (CMS), responding to requests related to the site or site content, training site administrative users as needed and providing training materials to Justice Canada, setting up site analytics for reporting purposes, and website hosting.

The Cultural Training for TWG project will consist of cultural training for 50 TWG members and a presentation on health and wellness for Indigenous Courtworkers. This work will be conducted by an Elder and a youth from the Mohawk Council of Akwesasne as part of the face-to-face Tripartite Working Group.

The Implementation of Case Management System Project will consist of hiring program developers to develop a secure, organized, and structured digital case management system. The case management system allows for easy input and access of information by Courtworkers to review client and court information, improve year-end reporting, and it increases client confidentiality.

This project will support a one-time initiative to provide travel support to enable 40 Indigenous Courtworkers and delegates from Native Counselling Services of Alberta to attend the Indigenous Courtwork Program National Gathering and related meetings March 4-8, 2019 in Ottawa, Ontario. The National Gathering of Indigenous Courtworkers will provide an opportunity to build on existing partnerships by sharing information and best practices in support of the Indigenous Courtwork Program mandate and objectives. The gathering will provide an opportunity for networking in support of skill building and capacity development for Courtworkers. This project will also support the development of a logo for the National Gathering.

Members of the Atikamekw Community Justice Program team will participate in the National Symposium on Restorative Justice to be held in Ottawa on November 17 and 18, 2025.

This project will explore the needs of Indigenous youth involved in the justice system in BC through the perspectives of Native Courtworkers, Elders, First Nations and community organizations, police, and MCFD. Activities include conducting interviews and focus groups, documenting case studies of collaborative, community-led programs, performing thematic analysis to identify patterns and service gaps, and validating findings with participants and partner organizations.

The Native Courtworker and Counselling Association of British Columbia will work in partnership with Legal Aid British Columbia to expand education and advocacy of Gladue Principles across the province, addressing a gap in education with justice professionals on the historical and present-day contexts of Indigenous incarceration.

The purpose of this project is to conduct research and implement a pilot program that will examine through an Indigenous lens, the incarcerated person as a ‘parent’ first.

This 43-month project with Native Courtworker and Counselling Association of British Columbia will develop and implement Indigenous-led, community-based, culturally-rooted anti-human trafficking approaches, practices and materials to advance knowledge and enhance empowerment supports for at-risk Indigenous populations and survivors of human trafficking throughout British Columbia.

This will be achieved by establishing Indigenous lived-experience youth panel, identifying high risk communities, engaging communities, organizing consultations and trainings, as well as developing materials to be used by anti-human trafficking service providers in Indigenous communities.

At the end of the project, the organization will have engaged the communities, utilized Indigenous community-led approaches, conducted consultations to identify needs and solutions for building protection and prevention, determined further support, and developed anti-human trafficking materials for Indigenous communities.
