The specific objectives* of this funding opportunity are:

• To support evidence-informed implementation and sustainability of one or more the six defined promising practice and/or policy interventions within LTC/retirement homes;
• To scientifically assess the implementation, adoption, and sustainability of the intervention(s), which are intended to mitigate the risk and consequences of future outbreaks of the COVID-19 pandemic;
• To provide greater understanding about which promising practice interventions and policy options and/or implementation and sustainability approaches are most effective, in which populations and contexts, and why;
• To build research capacity within the LTC/retirement home sector and facilitate interdisciplinary collaborations between the research community and the LTC/retirement home sector;
• To foster knowledge translation and exchange throughout the research process to inform home-level improvement and implementation and sustainability efforts via the LTC+ Acting on Pandemic Learning Together initiative;
• To foster the use of high quality, real-time, actionable evidence by LTC/retirement homes and relevant policy makers during and beyond the pandemic to support the development of a rapid learning health system; and
• To Apply a sex- and gender-based analysis ‘plus’ lens to the analyses, taking into consideration intersectional perspectives of healthcare workers, residents, families and caregivers from diverse cultural and racial backgrounds.

Project activities include: (1) providing technical assistance and vocational training to local partners and government actors to help them learn about gender-responsive and inclusive learning; (2) organizing sensitization and awareness sessions for parents, caregivers, civil society organizations, and community leaders.

The project will develop Elder, Matriarch and Youth Councils to engage their communities through knowledge transfers, sharing lived experiences, land-based learning, and healing practices. The organization will also improve its partnerships through various engagement meetings which will help them form stronger relationships with communities and partners in a safe and culturally informed setting to evaluate progress on GBV learning and advocacy.

Regional court observations at four sites across the country will be conducted and key learnings will be discussed at a series of regional forums for GBV-sector organizations.

These Change Labs will be a space for team members with lived experience across the country to come together, deconstruct and critically analyze the issues at hand, and work to identify root causes and key strategies for short- and long-term change. The learnings and outcomes from these labs will contribute to the development of tools and resources for education and policy.

Youths will have access to mentors, issue-focused learning opportunities, skill-development workshops in order to learn how to advance solutions that will address the gaps facing marginalized women/femmes.

This project will strengthen the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution (UNSCR) sanctions on the DPRK in Latin America and Southeast Asia through the following activities: Promoting Open-Source Monitoring and Reporting to the Private Sector, Advanced Counter-proliferation Finance Training in Mexico, Counter-proliferation Finance Symposium for Central Banks and Financial Institutions in Southeast Asia, Building Regional Champions on Counter-proliferation Finance in Latin America and the Caribbean, E-Learning Course on Combatting DPRK Proliferation Finance, Webinars and In-person Training Sessions in Latin America, and Interactive Training on Countering DPRK Cyberthreats for Financial Institutions in Costa Rica and Guatemala.

This project aims to enhance and improve the CASSIOPE mission data reduction and visualization software, to further exploit the scientific potential of the mission data, by incorporating the lessons learned and scientific discoveries made to date, and making the data fully open access and the data access software more user-friendly.

The intern will assist in a literature review of academic publications pertaining to reproductive physiology, early embryo development and embryo freezing-Involvement in collection of eggs and laboratory production of bovine embryos (including media preparation, physical handling, in vitro fertilization, embryo culture within laboratory, and cryopreservation of embryos). The intern will also learn about the understanding of the embryo transfer industry in Canada-Networking with producers, veterinarians, researchers, and industry members.

Project activities include: (1) providing gender-responsive vocational education to grades 6 to 10 underprivileged children as foundation for skills development; (2) providing training on gender-responsive, green, and market-driven skills to underprivileged youth and young adults; and (3) providing training on gender-responsive pedagogy, greening skills, competency-based curriculum, learning material development, and project management to teachers.
