In June 2016, as part of the Open Government Action Plan, the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat (TBS) committed to increasing the transparency and usefulness of grants and contribution data and subsequently launched the Guidelines on the Reporting of Grants and Contributions Awards, effective April 1, 2018.
The rules and principles governing government grants and contributions are outlined in the Treasury Board Policy on Transfer Payments. Transfer payments are transfers of money, goods, services or assets made from an appropriation to individuals, organizations or other levels of government, without the federal government directly receiving goods or services in return, but which may require the recipient to provide a report or other information subsequent to receiving payment. These expenditures are reported in the Public Accounts of Canada. The major types of transfer payments are grants, contributions and \'other transfer payments\'.
Included in this category, but not to be reported under proactive disclosure of awards, are (1) transfers to other levels of government such as Equalization payments as well as Canada Health and Social Transfer payments. (2) Grants and contributions reallocated or otherwise redistributed by the recipient to third parties; and (3) information that would normally be withheld under the Access to Information Act and the Privacy Act.

Commercial Path and Sidewalk for Niverville, Manitoba
Applicant seeks funding to construct new sidewalks and bike path with curb modifications. Overall length for bike path and 1.5m wide sidewalk is 202m in length. The main goal of this project is to renew and improve the existing active transportation network from existing commercial development on one side of the railway tracks to the active transportation network on the other side of the tracks.

Active Transportation Pathway Improvements for the University of Victoria
The University will complete active transportation pathway improvements that have been identified within the Campus Cycling Plan (2018): McGill Road, Ring Road South, Dawnview/CARSA. The focus of improvements is to provide safe connections and crossing points for cyclists and pedestrians by improving lighting, wayfinding and signage, integrating traffic calming measures into road crossing points, and constructing new, separated paved pedestrian and cycling pathways.
The project will generate a cumulative total of approximately 1 km of new asphalt separated pedestrian and bicycle pathways. Key outputs for each area include: bike racks, washrooms/change rooms, new lighting, wayfinding/signage, new plantings and trees, new curb, new crosswalks and upgraded crosswalks.

Active Transportation Network Plan and Feasibility Design for an Active Transportation Hub in Tsartl
Tsartlip First Nation (Tsartlip) is applying for $50,000 to fund the development of an Active Transportation Network Plan (ATNP) and to support the feasibility design of an Active Transportation Hub (AT Hub).
The intention of ATNP is to produce a community-wide map with prioritized segments to support future development of active transportation (AT) infrastructure on-reserve. The ATNP would also identify the current state of AT infrastructure, highlight safety issues, and note potential GHGe reductions as the network is developed. We would host community engagements to identify network gaps, destinations, and aspirations. Planning-level cost estimates for up to five priority corridors would be provided. Lastly, the ATNP look to enhance regional connectivity by considering Central Saanich’s Active Transportation Plan (2021).

Active Transportation Plan, Town of Woodstock, NB
The project will consist of developing an Active Transportation Plan (ATP) for the Town of Woodstock. Currently, the Town has no active transportation plan for their infrastructure but own and maintain multiple kilometers of an existing network. The Active Transportation plan will help further develop the Town's policy and active transportation. The plan is expected to have a long-term impact for the residents as it will guide the planning, design, and implementation of the active transportation infrastructure for the future. An ATP has the potential to shift the Town from vehicular traffic toward more active transportation means. The ATP would provide a framework for making the Town less automobile reliant and improve active transportation means. Active Transportation is one of the visions Council has by encouraging active transportation through enhanced infrastructure and addressing road safety concerns.

Communities across Canada that have a significant issue with homelessness and will have increased supports for their vulnerable populations through Reaching Home. This is accomplished by mobilizing partners at the federal, provincial/territorial and community levels, as well as the private and voluntary sectors, and other stakeholders, to address barriers to well-being faced by those who are homeless or at imminent risk of homelessness.
