A collection of oral histories will be recorded to enhance and increase awareness of the NOTL Museum's Oral History website, with complementary audio visual material and artifacts documented and added to the permanent digital collection of the NOTL Museum, adding depth, education, and greater awareness to these stories. Accompanying visual components will include diaries, maps, photographs, music, and family memorabilia

BCN is developing a collection of documented oral history through mapping interviews with elders and knowledge holders. The collection currently includes audio recordings, notes, interview maps, and GIS shapefiles from 40 interviews carried out between 2008 and 2015. The current project aims to strengthen this collection. The project team will digitize past oral history interview materials and maps for secure storage and use by the Nation. It will also build the Nation’s collection of documented oral history through conducting 7 new interviews focused on the BCN people’s connections to their ancestral lands.

Key activities of this project include: training of volunteers, labelling with accession number and adding essential description of images, uploading digital images to the Flickr database, freely available to the public along with related textual information and community engagement through invitations to participate in the documentation process.

Over the next four years, the project will develop and strengthen the BC Network of Child and Youth Advocacy Centres. The main activities include: support for centres, continued work on best practices and an Indigenous Services Framework, and continued evaluation and improvement of practice.

Over the next two years, Treehouse Advocacy Centre Society Vancouver will formally establish a Canadian Association of Child and Youth Advocacy Centres. This Association will serve as a national voice; advance collaboration and partnerships; and elevate consistent practices across Canada.

In response to an increasingly more diverse and changing youth justice population in Prince Edward Island, the Government of Prince Edward Island Youth Justice Services will develop enhanced and more responsive rehabilitative programming and policy development to improve services and supports for its new clientele including BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and people of color) and LGBTQIA2S+ youth.

The Recipient agrees to contribute to addressing the overrepresentation of Indigenous people in the criminal justice system through activities such as prevention, diversion and/or reintegration.

New Brunswick Legal Aid Services Commission will provide Impact of race and culture assessments IRCA’s reports.

YMCA YOU-Turn is a 3-year pilot project led by YMCA of Northern Alberta (YNAB), in collaboration with Edmonton Police Service’s Community and Youth Response Branch and Edmonton Young Offender Centre, to provide support to high-risk justice involved youth across central and northern Alberta. Through YOU-Turn, youth will be connected to resources such as employment services, mental heath support, schooling, addiction treatments, housing, family support services, etc. YMCA YOU-Turn will expand cultural support for Black and Indigenous youth by the recruitment of Youth Support Workers with experience supporting BIPOC youth as well as by partnering with Black and Indigenous community-based organizations.
