Grants and Contributions
About this information
In June 2016, as part of the Open Government Action Plan, the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat (TBS) committed to increasing the transparency and usefulness of grants and contribution data and subsequently launched the Guidelines on the Reporting of Grants and Contributions Awards, effective April 1, 2018.
The rules and principles governing government grants and contributions are outlined in the Treasury Board Policy on Transfer Payments. Transfer payments are transfers of money, goods, services or assets made from an appropriation to individuals, organizations or other levels of government, without the federal government directly receiving goods or services in return, but which may require the recipient to provide a report or other information subsequent to receiving payment. These expenditures are reported in the Public Accounts of Canada. The major types of transfer payments are grants, contributions and \'other transfer payments\'.
Included in this category, but not to be reported under proactive disclosure of awards, are (1) transfers to other levels of government such as Equalization payments as well as Canada Health and Social Transfer payments. (2) Grants and contributions reallocated or otherwise redistributed by the recipient to third parties; and (3) information that would normally be withheld under the Access to Information Act and the Privacy Act.

Disability inclusion and care work
7457955 P013563001
Through this project, Global Affairs Canada intends to expand the United Nations partnership on the rights of persons with disabilities (UNPRPD) joint program to 5 additional countries through a grant to the UNPRPD fund. Utilizing funding from GAC’s $100 million care commitment, this project aims to assess and address deficiencies in the care and support systems for persons with disabilities in Colombia, Kenya, Mozambique, Panama, and Tanzania. The project ultimately aims to increase independent living opportunities for persons with disabilities, especially women while improving the well-being of paid and unpaid caregivers who provide support to them.

Media Freedom Coalition Secretariat: Promoting Member State Engagement and Action
7457976 P013732001
This project seeks to strengthen the Media Freedom Coalition (MFC) Secretariat’s ability to ensure the actions of MFC member countries on media freedom are not only coordinated, inclusive and effective, but that they are targeted and impactful for journalists and media actors in the countries they represent. The project will support the MFC leadership through clear processes and administration; support members to act by providing resources, ideas and connections; ensure information flow between stakeholders to promote coordination; organize key MFC activities such as events; communicate the MFC’s work to key audiences; and monitor and evaluate MFC activity.

The overarching objective of the Union Training and Innovation Program aims to strengthen apprenticeship training systems to better support a skilled, inclusive, certified and productive trades workforce by improving the efficiency and effectiveness of training provided. .The streams have the following specific objectives: .Stream 1 (Equipment) will increase investment in training equipment and materials for higher quality training, leading to a more skilled and productive trade workforce. .Stream 2 (Innovation in Apprenticeship) will support innovation and enhanced partnerships to address long-standing and complex challenges that limit apprenticeship outcomes. .Stream 3 (Women in Construction Fund [WCF]) will support projects that expand or replicate successful models to encourage more women to participate and succeed in apprenticeship and the skilled trades. Stream 4 (Trades Exploration and Experience Program) will support projects that encourage Canadians to explore, prepare for, participate and succeed in apprenticeship and skilled trades careers. This stream is limited to participants who are not registered apprentices..

Derisking of nanointegrated odmr system
1014065
The project will support the integration and miniaturization of optically detected magnetic resonance (ODMR) technology on silicon to bring it to a technological maturity level that enables mass production compatible with the semiconductor industry. This one-year quantum sensor project is dedicated to de-risking this challenging technology transfer venture by directly addressing potential major scientific roadblocks, such as the impact of nanofabrication on sensitivity and to assess the technology readiness for a full transfer from the lab to the industry. In addition to miniaturization, the project aims to achieve a significant increase in sensitivity compared to commercially available products. The conclusion of this project will have a significant impact on research partners and the quantum industry in Canada as a whole.

Microstructure reconstruction for data augmentation and study of process-structure-property relationships with deep learning models.
1014106
The project aims to increase metallographic laboratory autonomy and facilitate the development and optimization of processes, such as high-pressure vacuum casting (HPVDC) of aluminum, cold spraying of aluminum (CSAM) and steel made by selective laser melting (SLM), by applying generative artificial intelligence (AI) models. The project will focus first on increasing efficiency by quickly and cost-effectively generating machine learning datasets with adjustable features, making it possible to generate aluminum and steel microstructures with variations in process parameters and sample preparation conditions. Next, the application of models trained on generated images to increase the efficiency and autonomy of metallographic laboratories will be investigated, overcoming the scarcity of out-of-distribution image data by reconstruction using generative AI models. Finally, the use of AI models to reconstruct microstructure images and extract new features will be explored, with the aim of improving the prediction of mechanical properties. These developments could eventually lead to a product implemented by companies specializing in computer vision.

Enabling Technologies for High-performance Printed Conformal Reconfigurable Intelligent Surfaces (RIS) and Antennas for Emerging mmwave Wireless Communication
1014386
This project focuses on the investigation, development, and advancement of enabling technologies related to conformal reconfigurable intelligent surfaces and beamforming antenna technologies to enhance the performance of millimeter-wave wireless links, particularly in non-line-of?sight scenarios. These advancements encompass improvements in radiating surfaces, phase and high efficiency amplitude control for millimeter-wave integrated circuits, flexible substrates, materials, and conductive ink for printable surfaces. These efforts aim to address one of the most crucial and promising emerging wireless technologies. Additionally, the project aims to create technologies and solutions that enable broadband access, particularly in remote and rural areas.
