This project aims to strengthen the border management capacities of the Haitian Border Police (POLIFRONT), an arm of the Haitian National Police (HNP), to detect and deter illicit cross-border activities that serve to strengthen Haitian gangs operating throughout the country. Over 2 years, the project aims to equip POLIFRONT with the technical tools required to effectively carry out their mandate, provide them with technical training on equipment use and maintenance, and improve infrastructure at the border.

This initiative will help to improve the capacity of parliaments to be effective actors of change in addressing key democratic challenges through their functions of representation, lawmaking, and oversight. While the immediate beneficiaries of the initiative are parliamentary actors, the project aims to strengthen the relationship between parliaments and civil society organizations, national governments, and other stakeholders, to support societies’ democratic resilience and the fulfilment of human rights.

The main objectives of the project include expanding the range of gases for creating nanobubbles, standardizing methods for their characterization, and testing their resilience in conditions simulating space. The goal is to investigate plant growth in microgravity conditions that tests these systems in terrestrial environments within a simulated space environment. The expected outcomes include advancements in scientific knowledge and technological development in space health and life science, training opportunities for a minimum of 5 students, and benefits to Canadian populations.

The long-term objective of this project is to develop a low-cost wide field-of-view (FOV) optical system for debris detection from a nanosatellite. The project will aim to develop a more compact camera capable of real-time image processing for space surveillance in challenging lighting conditions. The project objectives are to design an advanced star field simulator to accurately represent challenging imaging environment, to develop an algorithm using neural network for star and RSO detection in non-ideal light conditions, and to design a real-time adaptive camera control in response to changes in illumination conditions.

Expansion of facilities and acquisition of equipment: the project aims to increase the productivity and production capacity of the company, which specializes in the manufacturing and installation of water structures.

This project aims to build capacity of independent Russian and Belarusian journalists to recognize and combat information manipulation and, to adopt a human rights-focussed reporting style, leading to increased and improved fact-based reporting circulating in Russian and Belarusian exile circles, and more relatable content for audiences to better understand the human rights impacts of the conflict and reduce their susceptibility to mis and disinformation. Project activities include: (1) providing trainings on personal safety and cybersecurity, human rights and gender-sensitive reporting, media business development, and countering information manipulation; (2) providing grants to support production of investigative media content on human rights and information manipulation; 3) facilitating networking and convening for independent journalists; (4) developing mental health and well-being supports for journalists and activists affected by transnational repression; and (5) supporting media innovation and business strategy initiatives through selection committees, calls for applications, and financial contributions.

This project aims to strengthen security and counter-terrorism operations by improving close quarter battlefield (CQB) techniques for Tunisia’s National Guard Academy in Bir Bouregba, in accordance with international human rights, rule of law standards, and gender considerations. Project activities include: the construction of a CQB training facility; the supply of modernized equipment and training to improve the monitoring, data analysis, and real-time communication capacities of law enforcement officers; technical assistance to improve Standard Operating Procedures for the appropriate and safe use of CQB techniques; and technical assistance to promote and increase the capacity of female officers in frontline and operational roles.

Addressing forest fires in Guatemalan protected forest areas by strengthening fire combat capabilities.

Third phase: promoting Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DE&I) in Thai Business by finalizing and refining the DE&I toolkit resulted from Phase I and II and piloting the DE&I toolkit in select companies, and sharing initial results and reflections with relevant stakeholders.

This project involves conducting research on the feasibility of establishing a centralized simultaneous and consecutive court interpretation service for provinces.
