Project activities include: conducting discussions and workshops to develop and revise materials for awareness and capacity building in 12 SP Communities and the National Secretariat, organizing learning circles in 12 SP Communities, implementing a Feminist Leadership School (FLS) in 12 SP Communities and the National Secretariat, conducting Feminist Participatory Action Research (FPAR) within the FLS framework in 12 SP Communities and the National Secretariat.

The project builds local capacity for planning, implementing, monitoring, and assessing the impacts of crisis response initiatives and integrating lessons learned to inform sustainability and future responses to similar crisis.

This project aims to enhance equitable and inclusive learning outcomes for refugee, internally displaced and host community children and youth, particularly girls and adolescent girls, living in South Sudan and Uganda.

The project contributes to the implementation of the gender equity commitments reflected in the quality assurance policies of Afghanistan’s Teacher Education Department, namely: (1) the provision of a sufficient number of qualified women teachers, and gender-sensitive teachers who are adequately prepared to improve the learning outcomes of girls and boys; (2) a gender equitable system to establish the qualification of teachers in TTCs; and (3) reduced gender-based discrimination in TTCs.

This will be achieved by recruiting and training the Host Family (Board of Directors), developing and implementing a strategic plan, building networks and partnerships with the local 2SLGBTQQIA+ community, organizing and delivering a 2Spirit/Indigequeer Symposium as part of a baseline community needs/medicines assessment, and sharing the learning with other organizations.

This project will engage with local Indigenous/2Spirit/Indigequeer groups, Indigenous Elders and youth, and knowledge keepers to organize and deliver a Coastal 2Spirit/Indigequeer Symposium and develop Coastal 2Spirit/Indigequeer resources.

MFA will also produce a Final Report that they will share with WAGE’s GBV Learning Centre, and other organizations through a Media Release and Impact Report to disseminate their findings on the scaling of this promising practice so that others may replicate it or expand upon it.

A supplement of $149,570 was granted to develop a comprehensive cross-Canada coordinated childcare advocacy strategy, as well as a supporting implementation plan, to ensure equitable access to high quality and inclusive early learning and childcare.

The project will build and enhance partnerships with the Systems Sanctuary, McConnell Foundation, and Sacred Earth Solar to increase peer support and collaboration for 100 women across seven cohorts for shared learning and action. One cohort will be exclusively BIPOC leaders on the frontline of the climate movement.

The End FGM Canada Network will address knowledge gaps in medical, education, and child protection areas, by creating interactive learning modules in both official languages through partnering with key individuals knowledgeable on female genital mutilation/cutting.

Specifically, the project is housed at the First People House of Learning at Trent University, levering relationships with the Chanie Wenjack School of Indigenous Studies, the Ontario Native Women’s Association, First Nations and grassroots organizations.
