Grants and Contributions

The grant supports an interview recording project that will help deepen knowledge of the history and experience of Mi’kmaq people in relation to the Newfoundland coastal territory, traditional and contemporary way of life, and the significance of the relationship with Gros Morne National Park. The audio recording of interviews will allow these perspectives and the Mi’kmaq language to be shared through an exhibition.

This contribution supports the operation of local public transit services within Jasper National Park to facilitate the movement of people around the park, ease parking congestion, and provide a lower-emission alternative to private vehicle use, without disturbing national park lands through parking lot expansion. This contribution includes operating costs for 3 years for 3 bus routes to high-use locations around the Jasper townsite.

This contribution supports the Métis Nation of Alberta to undertake a detailed feasibility study of three potential early investments for the proposed Edmonton Region National Urban Park.

This grant supports the Clayoquot Biosphere Trust to conduct a regional meeting to foster vital conversations related to coastal waterfront safety.

This grant supports the planning and organizing of a cultural sharing (cedar weaving) by the Land of Maquinna Cultural Society for twenty participants at the annual Yuquot Mowachacht/Muchalat First Nation Summerfest.

This contribution supports First Nation of Nacho Nyak Dun‘s participation in assessing feasibility for a national park in the Peel River Watershed, as well as participating in further negotiations related to protected areas establishment.

This grant supports Cowichan Tribes members and panellists to participate in meetings about vetting and deciding on a location for the designation of Coast Salish Knitters and Cowichan Sweater historic site and monument.

This grant enables the Friends of Fort Malden to develop their Candlelight Guided Tour program at Fort Malden National Historic Site.

The Arthur B. McDonald Fellowships aim to enhance the career development of outstanding and highly promising scientists and engineers who are faculty members of Canadian universities.
