This project will seek to learn from and engage with the gendered space of insider mediation in nonviolent socio-political movements, to improve their effective contribution to conflict transformation.

Project activities include: (1) co-develop with, and provide learning programs for youth in leadership, digital skills and innovation, gender equality, social innovation and entrepreneurship; (2) offer community placements to young women so they can train local partners and collaborators to develop gender responsive policies and programs; (3) create linkages between the private sector and governments to develop policies and programs to close the gender digital divide (inequality for women and girls with regard to the access, use and impact of technology); (4) train DOT local partners to act as regional hubs that identify, execute and scale youth leadership, social entrepreneurship and social innovation programs that are gender responsive; and (5) test new business models with DOT local partners and collaborators in Ghana, Malawi, Uganda and Zambia.

Co-creation activities, storytelling, and lessons learned from individuals with lived experience will support the development of policies and strategies tackling poverty, unemployment and housing.

For the second part of the project, Equal Voice will hold a series of virtual summits to convene elected officials to share learning, knowledge, to promote advocacy change, and to build a nationwide network for change.

Additionally, First Light will develop and pilot experiential learning modules at the Lunar Inn to mobilize GBV-related policy research findings, and documenting lessons that will guide future GBV prevention efforts and systems-level reforms.

Avalon Sexual Assault Centre Society will participate in community events to increase visibility of the project and share lessons learned from the promising practice in order to share information with others so that they may replicate it or expand upon it.

To do so, the project will adapt WBG training materials for delivery to new population groups; engage, train, and support cultural peers to facilitate the project’s WBG group sessions; evaluate the applicability and impact of facilitator onboarding training; and form a Learning Collaborative which will share knowledge, build collective capacity, and support a developmental project evaluation process.

Specifically, the project will facilitate support teams and work collaboratively with partner agencies, identify and shape family-led restorative pathways, develop education and training to support system change, gather learnings through a formative evaluation and develop a knowledge dissemination strategy.

With the supplemental funds and extension provided in early 2026, BIPOC USHR PEI will expand its community-based research GBV on Prince Edward Island by examining youth knowledge and intergenerational learning related to consent and healthy relationships, as well as investigating how racialized communities navigate GBV support systems and referral pathways.

The project aims to take stock of transphobic hate crimes and victims of gun crimes. They plan to inform professionals (risk, screening and intervention) with a guide, and the trans and non-binary community with tools to raise awareness of their legal recourses (Red Flag Laws). This project aims to make these laws visible and accessible, so that everyone is informed of their rights.
