Grants and Contributions
About this information
In June 2016, as part of the Open Government Action Plan, the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat (TBS) committed to increasing the transparency and usefulness of grants and contribution data and subsequently launched the Guidelines on the Reporting of Grants and Contributions Awards, effective April 1, 2018.
The rules and principles governing government grants and contributions are outlined in the Treasury Board Policy on Transfer Payments. Transfer payments are transfers of money, goods, services or assets made from an appropriation to individuals, organizations or other levels of government, without the federal government directly receiving goods or services in return, but which may require the recipient to provide a report or other information subsequent to receiving payment. These expenditures are reported in the Public Accounts of Canada. The major types of transfer payments are grants, contributions and \'other transfer payments\'.
Included in this category, but not to be reported under proactive disclosure of awards, are (1) transfers to other levels of government such as Equalization payments as well as Canada Health and Social Transfer payments. (2) Grants and contributions reallocated or otherwise redistributed by the recipient to third parties; and (3) information that would normally be withheld under the Access to Information Act and the Privacy Act.

Development of Non-Intrusive Optical Fiber Cable based Pressure Sensor
1007435
Most conventional pressure transmitters require an opening into the pipeline to measure internal pressure. If the pipeline has already been built, it is very challenging to create an opening in the pipeline for installing a new pressure transmitter. The sensor developed in this project would allow pressure measurement anywhere along the pipeline.
Project would support Vanmok in achieving the following objective:
Develop a Non-Intrusive Pressure Sensor using Optical Fiber Cable sensor technology coupled with Internet of Things and artificial intelligence/Machine learning

Improving the production process of the newly updated QWave ovens
1007492
We released the newly updated QWave product for production in February, 2023; however, this product requires a time period for a dedicated production technologist to hand-hold the instrument productions for the upcoming one year to identify and remove the deficiencies and possible weaknesses of the new design in our production process. The youth to be hired will have his/her prime focus to learn the QWave production process, the manufacture and/or procurement of individual components and how these components are assembled in the next higher assembly. Finally, the youth will be involved in formulating and refining the final system testing with an eye on efficacy in catching premature failures and their root causes.
