About this information
In June 2016, as part of the Open Government Action Plan, the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat (TBS) committed to increasing the transparency and usefulness of grants and contribution data and subsequently launched the Guidelines on the Reporting of Grants and Contributions Awards, effective April 1, 2018.
The rules and principles governing government grants and contributions are outlined in the Treasury Board Policy on Transfer Payments. Transfer payments are transfers of money, goods, services or assets made from an appropriation to individuals, organizations or other levels of government, without the federal government directly receiving goods or services in return, but which may require the recipient to provide a report or other information subsequent to receiving payment. These expenditures are reported in the Public Accounts of Canada. The major types of transfer payments are grants, contributions and \'other transfer payments\'.
Included in this category, but not to be reported under proactive disclosure of awards, are (1) transfers to other levels of government such as Equalization payments as well as Canada Health and Social Transfer payments. (2) Grants and contributions reallocated or otherwise redistributed by the recipient to third parties; and (3) information that would normally be withheld under the Access to Information Act and the Privacy Act.

Care Connect: Action for care workers

This project aims to enhance empowerment, socioeconomic well-being and enjoyment of rights for women and girls working in domestic care in Indonesia and the Philippines. Project activities include: (1) training domestic care workers on advocacy, leadership, and their right to decent work and living free from violence; (2) conducting feminist research to generate evidence on women’s rights and needs related to paid care work. It does so to influence national and international spaces effectively; and (3) providing technical support to civil society organizations, particularly women’s rights organizations, to implement gender-transformative, environmentally sustainable care programs.
Oxfam Canada implements this project in collaboration with Oxfam Indonesia and Oxfam Philippines, partnering with three local organizations per country.

Reducing gendered state and societal violence experienced by young people in Tunisia

This project aims to reduce state and societal violence experienced by young Tunisian men and women in the target communities of Kasserine and Tataouine. Project activities include: (1) increasing capacity-building for youth groups, civil society organizations, and local media outlets to recognize and address incidences of gendered violence and its short and long-term impacts on society; (2) increasing visibility of gender-based violence among state leaders and society through media programming and sensitization campaigns; (3) facilitating inclusive and participative public dialogues; and (4) supporting youth-led advocacy campaigns.

Project activities include: (1) strengthening key institutions’ capacity to engage and protect SRHR; (2) developing programs and strategies to improve SRHR efforts; and (3) promoting awareness of SRHR and related programming. This project, implemented by UN Women, UNFPA, and UNICEF, contributes to Canada's 10-year global health commitment.
