Following the JWST ERS and Cycle 2 GO Announcement of Opportunity published on July 6, 2023, the CSA is providing funding via a Grant Agreement to the university to conduct their research using the JWST data.

This project will study how galaxies are shaped by the “bubbles” released by stars that die in supernova explosions.

It is known that supermassive black holes exist in the centers of galaxies, these black holes can create winds and outflows called jets in their environments. This project will study the active galaxy 3C305 and determine if star formation in the galaxy is associated with the jet from the supermassive black hole at the center of the galaxy.

The project seeks to support climate change adaptation with a focus on nature-based solutions and impacts on biodiversity.

The project supports the empowerment of women paid childcare workers in Mozambique’s early childhood development sector. Project activities include: (1) developing and training paid childcare workers in gender-responsive and inclusive childcare; (2) piloting compensation schemes in targeted early childhood development centres; (3) organizing sessions on positive parenting and father engagement and coalition campaigns for local communities; (4) delivering feminist leadership training to parents, caregivers and community members; and (5) conducting feminist research to support evidence-based advocacy, to increase government officials’ knowledge on rights of paid childcare workers.

With GAC’s support, Action Against Hunger aims to provide lifesaving assistance to address the urgent needs of up to 2,000,000 crisis-affected people across the globe over three years. This project focuses on improving the nutritional status of vulnerable populations, through delivering emergency nutrition and complementary health and water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) services in approximately ten countries each year. The project also includes a global technical component to provide gender-responsive nutrition technical support services to global, regional and local actors.

Project activities include: (1) providing treatment of severe acute malnutrition for girls and boys under the age of five and women of reproductive age; (2) providing gender-sensitive health support for women, girls and boys, such as access to baby and child-friendly spaces and gender-based violence referral pathways; (3) providing gender-sensitive WASH services at the community level and in health facilities; (4) providing sexual reproductive health and rights services and support for the decision-making role of women; (5) providing mental health gender-based violence-related support for women, girls, men and boys; and (6) providing nutrition technical support services to global, regional and local actors.

This project aims to promote the implementation of survey and clearance obligations in the Anti-Personnel Mine Ban Convention (APMBC) and the Convention on Cluster Munitions (CCM). Project activities include: (1) researching, drafting, publishing, and disseminating 4 annual Mine Action Review reports, including Clearing the Mines and Clearing Cluster Munition Remnants. It also includes the Guide to the APMBC Action Plan and Monitoring on Survey and Clearance and Guide to the CCM Action Plan and Monitoring on Survey and Clearance; (2) drafting comments and critique on APMBC Article 5 Deadline Extension Requests and CCM Article 4 Deadline Extension Requests to the APMBC Committee on Article 5 and the CCM Article 4 Analysis Group; (3) providing expert input in external discussions related to the survey and clearance of anti-personnel mines or cluster munition remnants; and (4) monitoring and assessing national authorities’ mine action programs’ performance on gender and diversity.
