This project advances the Government of Canada commitment to plant an additional two billion new trees over the next 10 years as part of a broader approach to nature-based climate solutions.

As part of this project, the promoter will assess the genetic diversity of black ash, an important species for several of the project's partner First Nations, throughout its entire range.

Advance adaptive silviculture by testing, at operational scales, how season of harvest impacts stand yield. Understanding how harvest outside of the traditional winter harvest season affects stand dynamics is essential as climate change causes winter harvest seasons to become shorter and more unpredictable.
