Grants and Contributions
About this information
In June 2016, as part of the Open Government Action Plan, the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat (TBS) committed to increasing the transparency and usefulness of grants and contribution data and subsequently launched the Guidelines on the Reporting of Grants and Contributions Awards, effective April 1, 2018.
The rules and principles governing government grants and contributions are outlined in the Treasury Board Policy on Transfer Payments. Transfer payments are transfers of money, goods, services or assets made from an appropriation to individuals, organizations or other levels of government, without the federal government directly receiving goods or services in return, but which may require the recipient to provide a report or other information subsequent to receiving payment. These expenditures are reported in the Public Accounts of Canada. The major types of transfer payments are grants, contributions and \'other transfer payments\'.
Included in this category, but not to be reported under proactive disclosure of awards, are (1) transfers to other levels of government such as Equalization payments as well as Canada Health and Social Transfer payments. (2) Grants and contributions reallocated or otherwise redistributed by the recipient to third parties; and (3) information that would normally be withheld under the Access to Information Act and the Privacy Act.

Lithium electrolysis piloting facility
1015606
The firm has developed an industrial membrane electrolysis process and electrolyser cell equipment for the electrochemical conversion of lithium chloride or lithium sulphate solutions into battery grade lithium hydroxide. Broadly, our clients are in the mineral processing, lithium-ion battery production and recycling sectors.
Increasingly, clients are looking for the firm to take on a larger scope in pre-treatment of their unique brines, which is critical for electrolysis performance. This project aims to develop and improve a number of Firm’s specific brine treatment processes to improve operations of our electrolysis processes. In addition, test systems will be operated to validate electrolyser performance with the new brine specifications.

An Integrated Digital Twin Platform for Federal Built Assets in Canada
1016512
The Carleton Immersive Media Studio (CIMS) — working with the National Research Council (NRC) and Department of National Defence (DND), and in collaboration with Building Smart Canada (bSC) and the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGS) — proposes the development of exchange information requirements (EIR) and a browser-based digital twin platform to support the management of federal built assets. Paraphrasing Michael Grieves, we understand a digital twin to be comprised of three essential components: “i) real objects in real space, ii) digital objects in digital space, and iii) the exchange of data and information between real and digital objects and spaces. The proposed digital platform will integrate and visualize diverse multiscale and multidisciplinary data sets required for the management of built assets. Aligning with the “Greening Government Strategy” and ISO 19650, this integrated platform will facilitate whole life cycle management throughout the design, construction, operations, and decommissioning of built federal assets. The platform will enable multidisciplinary collaboration, project management, and accountability.

Development of high protein chickpea (Cicer arietinum) variety using advanced plant breeding techniques.
1011864
The development of high protein crop varieties is a critical process to meet the future demand for dietary protein. Chickpea is an important commodity in the plant protein sector, which would benefit from advanced plant breeding techniques including genome editing. This project focuses on the development of high protein chickpea varieties using genome editing. Genome editing can be utilized to enhance the production and accumulation of seed protein, which would add value to seed processors and food ingredient manufacturers. AgGene has identified a set of candidate genes that can be disrupted and modulated to increase seed protein content through genome editing. This project will help establish genome editing practices to help expedite the development of new traits and technologies that can increase competitiveness and value of chickpea commodities.

Fast AI-Assisted Study Triaging (FAST), Patient Diagnoses & Advanced Workload Balancing
1013887
As part of the international consortium project “FAST- Fast AI-assisted Study Triaging (FAST), Patient Diagnoses & Advanced Workload Balancing”, this project will focus on integrating RealTime Medical (RTM) products with Milvue's to create a unique process innovation and service, accessible by all hospitals, clinics and radiology groups.
The combined solution leverages the advanced diagnostic workload balancing, workflow management and AI interface functionality, developed by RealTime with the support of NRC-IRAP and the AI assisted detection technology of our France partner, Milvue, for which regulatory approval has already been granted in Europe (approval pending in Canada and the US).
