About this information
In June 2016, as part of the Open Government Action Plan, the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat (TBS) committed to increasing the transparency and usefulness of grants and contribution data and subsequently launched the Guidelines on the Reporting of Grants and Contributions Awards, effective April 1, 2018.
The rules and principles governing government grants and contributions are outlined in the Treasury Board Policy on Transfer Payments. Transfer payments are transfers of money, goods, services or assets made from an appropriation to individuals, organizations or other levels of government, without the federal government directly receiving goods or services in return, but which may require the recipient to provide a report or other information subsequent to receiving payment. These expenditures are reported in the Public Accounts of Canada. The major types of transfer payments are grants, contributions and \'other transfer payments\'.
Included in this category, but not to be reported under proactive disclosure of awards, are (1) transfers to other levels of government such as Equalization payments as well as Canada Health and Social Transfer payments. (2) Grants and contributions reallocated or otherwise redistributed by the recipient to third parties; and (3) information that would normally be withheld under the Access to Information Act and the Privacy Act.

A G7 Global Partnership Initiative to Counter Weapons of Mass Destruction Disinformation

This project supports a concerted and coordinated approach to counter the entire spectrum of global disinformation campaigns that target chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear (CBRN) weapons and related materials. This is done on behalf of the G7-led Global Partnership Against the Spread of Weapons and Materials of Mass Destruction. Project activities include: (1) creating a dashboard that tracks CBRN disinformation related to Russia’s illegal invasion of Ukraine; (2) providing rapid dashboard and disinformation trends analysis; (3) developing case studies related to various aspects of CBRN disinformation; (4) mapping and characterizing disinformation narratives and tactics related to Ukraine and beyond; (5) developing best practice guidance and measures related to countering CBRN disinformation; (6) consolidating expert opinions on different elements of CBRN disinformation, including needs, impacts and potential interventions; (7) creating a dedicated project web-platform and project social media account to house and disseminate project outputs; and (8) developing and delivering bespoke briefings, trainings and related materials on CBRN disinformation.

Women and girls empowerment through inclusive education in Chittagong Hill Tracts, Bangladesh

This project aims to improve the quality of education, reduce barriers to education for girls, and empower girls to pursue their education in the Chittagong Hill Tracts region of Bangladesh. The project seeks to increase access to safe and inclusive education for 16,800 girls and 14,744 boys, particularly those from ethnic minorities and those with disabilities. The project also aims to strengthen 71 informal secondary schools to become accredited schools funded by the Government of Bangladesh.
