This project aims to improve equality, enjoyment of human rights, and freedom from sexual and gender-based violence for women and girls in Kiribati, Solomon Islands and Tonga. The Project seeks to increase inclusive and gender-responsive promotion and protection of women and girls’ right to live free from sexual and gender-based violence.

This project supports the Overseas Development Institute’s (ODI) Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) program, focusing on responses to the complex "polycrisis" affecting societies globally.

Project activities include (1) Providing training to develop capacities of state, local actors, NGOs, and local communities to plan, implement, and mobilize resources for integrated landscape management; (2) Establishing and operating 160 climate-sensitive farmer field and business schools to promote climate-resilient agricultural technologies and practices; (3) Train women through 12 WE-FBS (Women’s Empowerment Farm Business School) to develop and management at least 12 agri-food enterprises; (4) Provide training and other supports to farmers in establishing and rehabilitating agricultural assets, including water and food storage systems, for agri-food value chains; and (5) Providing training and other support to strengthen the capacities of government and non-state actors for gender-responsive Climate-Smart Agriculture, landscape management, and sustainable agri-food value chains.

EIF-funded interventions include Measuring Opportunities for Women in Peacekeeping (MOWIP) barrier assessments; construction of gender-sensitive accommodations, training, and daycare facilities; financial premiums for GSU (gender-strong unit) deployments; development of gender policies, strategies and action plans; and training and capacity building.

Project activities include: (1) developing and implementing comprehensive sexual and reproductive health and rights, economic rights and gender-based violence prevention training for in-school adolescents; (2) providing capacity building support for health services provider personnel on the delivery of culturally, gender- and age-responsive and inclusive services; and (3) providing technical assistance to municipal and regional public sector institutions to operationalize public policies that support adolescents’ and young people’s health and economic autonomy.

Project activities include: (1) expanding school gardens to develop students’ agricultural production skills; (2) expanding market linkages between local smallholder farmers and schools seeking nutritious and diversified food; (3) providing health and nutrition education for students and the wider school community; (4) providing nutrition and food preparation training for school meal cooks; (5) training government and school officials on financial compliance and food procurement practices; (6) providing trainings to increase women’s participation in school management; and (7) developing gender dialogue clubs that address issues such as gender-based violence (GBV) and menstrual hygiene management.

This project aims to increase accountability for sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV) related crimes, including those linked to terrorism, in Nigeria and to improve access to justice for survivors.

The project aims to promote peace and stability in conflict-affected states.

This project aims to strengthen the capacity of the National Counter Terrorism Commission (Commission nationale de lutte contre le terrorisme) (CNLCT), relevant Ministries, civil society actors, and religious leaders in Tunisia to effectively address and mitigate behaviors that increase vulnerability to extremism and violent extremism, while countering the dissemination of violent extremist propaganda perpetrated by both foreign and local terrorist groups. This will be achieved through technical assistance, training, capacity-building, and strategic communications messaging aimed at empowering these institutions to develop and implement effective responses to the complex drivers of radicalization in the country. This research project will explore the complex, hybrid nature of modern cyber threats that arise from the alignment of both state interests and non-state actors, including criminals, hacktivists, and private sector entities. By examining the proxy relationships between states and non-state actors in this conflict, the project will contribute to a deeper and more nuanced understanding of cyber operations in modern warfare and their intersections with global governance, criminal accountability, and international law.
