The specific objectives of this funding opportunity are to:

• Support the creation and/or further development of inclusive, formal networks to address selected priority issues related to Skin Health, Bone Health, and Muscular Dystrophy;
• Encourage national (and if feasible, international) collaboration, methods development, and resource sharing (people and platforms) among multidisciplinary experts;
• Engage researchers and other network members who have historically faced barriers in the research ecosystem, including but not limited to those marginalized by gender, Indigenous Peoples, racialized minorities, persons with disabilities, and members of LGBTQ2S+ communities;
• Develop and strengthen research capacity by connecting and engaging current researchers and training the next generation of researchers;
• Encourage network researchers to promote and demonstrate open science principles
• Facilitate the mobilization and uptake of existing knowledge and the new knowledge generated by research evidence; and
• Ensure meaningful patient engagement with a goal of influencing impact beyond the time of this network.

The Project Grant program is expected to:
• Support a diverse portfolio of health-related research and knowledge translation proposals at any stage, from discovery to application, including commercialization;
• Promote relevant collaborations across disciplines, professions, and sectors; and
• Contribute to the creation and use of health-related knowledge.

The specific objectives of this funding opportunity are to:
• Enable STBBI researchers to generate preliminary observations, data or knowledge necessary to pursue longer-term research funding in STBBI research;
• Support original, high quality STBBI projects and provide researchers the opportunity to pursue high risk health research questions which have the potential to generate novel, innovative and high impact results; and
• Stimulate innovation in STBBI research by promoting cross-disciplinary research collaborations between STBBI researchers and experts in other relevant fields in Canada.

The Banting Postdoctoral Fellowships Program aims to attract and retain top-tier postdoctoral talent, both nationally and internationally, to develop their leadership potential and to position them for success as research leaders of tomorrow, positively contributing to Canada’s economic, social and research-based growth through a research-intensive career.

1. Promote research independence and academic research career readiness of highly qualified post-doctoral researchers, clinicians and PhD-holding research associates belonging to specific underrepresented groups;
2. Increase the number of funded researchers from specific underrepresented groups conducting excellent research who secure their first independent research faculty position in a Canadian academic, health system or research institution; and
3. Provide funded researchers from specific underrepresented groups with early career support to enhance their probability of future success in obtaining independent research funding and launching successful research faculty careers in Canada that will contribute to the creation and/or use of health-related knowledge to improve the health of Canadians.

The specific objective of this funding opportunity is to recognize exemplary work and build capacity in the five cross cutting research domains of a healthy research ecosystem in keeping with both the CIHR Strategic Plan 2021-31 and the CIHR-IMHA Strategic Plan.
