About this information
In June 2016, as part of the Open Government Action Plan, the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat (TBS) committed to increasing the transparency and usefulness of grants and contribution data and subsequently launched the Guidelines on the Reporting of Grants and Contributions Awards, effective April 1, 2018.
The rules and principles governing government grants and contributions are outlined in the Treasury Board Policy on Transfer Payments. Transfer payments are transfers of money, goods, services or assets made from an appropriation to individuals, organizations or other levels of government, without the federal government directly receiving goods or services in return, but which may require the recipient to provide a report or other information subsequent to receiving payment. These expenditures are reported in the Public Accounts of Canada. The major types of transfer payments are grants, contributions and \'other transfer payments\'.
Included in this category, but not to be reported under proactive disclosure of awards, are (1) transfers to other levels of government such as Equalization payments as well as Canada Health and Social Transfer payments. (2) Grants and contributions reallocated or otherwise redistributed by the recipient to third parties; and (3) information that would normally be withheld under the Access to Information Act and the Privacy Act.

This project is part of Global Affairs Canada's International Youth Internship Program (IYIP), funded by the Government of Canada's Youth Employment Strategy. The IYIP aims to provide Canadian youth aged 18 to 30, particularly those facing employment barriers, with the opportunity to gain professional experience in international development.
The project implemented by the Victoria International Development Education Association (VIDEA) provides Indigenous youth, specifically Indigenous youth, with additional barriers to employment and internships varying from 3 to 6 months. It offers 187 Indigenous youth opportunities to respond to the needs articulated by local partner organizations and gain improved capacity to implement climate adaptation, youth development, gender equality, SRHR, and disability support programs. It also allows to build more inclusive, discrimination-free programs and workplaces; and access Indigenous knowledge sources.

Through the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), this project seeks to promote implementing and adhering to key nuclear security-related legal frameworks. Project activities include: (1) supporting targeted outreach to Member States to provide legislative assistance with implementation; (2) organizing mock trials and scenario-based exercises for law enforcement and judicial officials to build adherence capabilities; and (3) supporting the development of tools and resources to assist and guide Member States through joining the legal conventions.
