Grants and Contributions
About this information
In June 2016, as part of the Open Government Action Plan, the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat (TBS) committed to increasing the transparency and usefulness of grants and contribution data and subsequently launched the Guidelines on the Reporting of Grants and Contributions Awards, effective April 1, 2018.
The rules and principles governing government grants and contributions are outlined in the Treasury Board Policy on Transfer Payments. Transfer payments are transfers of money, goods, services or assets made from an appropriation to individuals, organizations or other levels of government, without the federal government directly receiving goods or services in return, but which may require the recipient to provide a report or other information subsequent to receiving payment. These expenditures are reported in the Public Accounts of Canada. The major types of transfer payments are grants, contributions and \'other transfer payments\'.
Included in this category, but not to be reported under proactive disclosure of awards, are (1) transfers to other levels of government such as Equalization payments as well as Canada Health and Social Transfer payments. (2) Grants and contributions reallocated or otherwise redistributed by the recipient to third parties; and (3) information that would normally be withheld under the Access to Information Act and the Privacy Act.

I Love You and it Hurts
GV230284
Through this 9-month project, Theatre of the Beat will scale their model of forum theatre to strengthen the GBV sector. It will scale their latest theatrical production of I Love You and it Hurts to a new format and reach new audiences across Canada with performances in community establishments such as secondary and post-secondary schools, long-term care centres, and youth and men's groups. It will address the need for more awareness and resources on the subtle signs of domestic violence, with a focus on elder abuse, healthy masculinity, and youth intimate partner violence. To do so, the project will include community-informed theatre plays, audience knowledge mobilizations, and expanded touring in eastern and western Canada. Theatre of the Beat will create resource guides to share information on the promising practice with others so that they may replicate it or expand upon its success and impact.

Increasing Capacity in Strategy, Execution and Governance to Advance Equality for Canada's 2SLGBTQI+ Youth
SO230024
Through this 29-month project, It Gets Better Canada will build a stronger capacity of 2SLGBTQI+ community organizations and networks to advance 2SLGBTQI+ equality. This project will address key barriers in the availability of tools and community-based resources that help 2SLGBTQI+ youth engage with other youth across Canada; and explore and navigate their sexual orientation and gender identity journey. To do so, this project will improve organizational governance by developing a Youth Advisory Committee as an extension of the Board, giving 2SLGBTQI+ youth a voice at the highest level within the organization. It Gets Better Canada will strengthen their strategic direction by establishing a national 2SLGBTQI+ Youth Network with representation from at least 4-different regions across Canada through strategic outreach. A performance-based strategic plan will also be created that aligns the existing resources on the achievement of equality for 2SLGBTQI+ youth. Relationships with other national 2SLGBTQI+ organizations will be strengthened, and a sustainable-funding model will be established. To recognize the needs of the community, and to address barrier 2SLGBTQI+ youth experience, the 2SLGBTQI+ Youth Network will engage with focus groups, town halls, and surveys to inform It Gets Better Canada’s strategic priorities, programs, resources, and partnerships.
