The Municipality wants to hire an consultant firm to prepare a document for the MTQ to demonstrate the need to build a sidewalk for the safety of residents and to encourage them to use their cars less and reduce greenhouse gases.
The Municipality has to submit the application, since the land where the sidewalk would have to be built belongs to the MTQ.
The MTQ has been asked a number of times to improve safety for residents, especially children, in that area. One of those requests was for a crosswalk and expansion of the village’s speed reduction area. The requests were all denied.
In addition, survey work is required for the construction of a new sidewalk. We want to include that work in our application.
It is understood that if the application is properly submitted to the MTQ and is accepted, the Municipality will cover the construction costs.
We have already submitted a Priority 1 application for the capital component. This planning project is a Priority 2 application.

"Our application to the Active Transportation Fund is mostly a continuation of the mobility profile and implementation plan for sustainable mobility services for Bécancour MRC and Nicolet-Yamaska MRC undertaken in 2021. That study identified the need for a complete, accessible and safe bicycle path network but did not provide details about the current inventory, the needs, the required action plan and the investment plan needed to ensure safe active transportation throughout the MRC.

Some of the active transportation recommendations that emerged from the mobility profile and service implementation plan are as follows:

1. Develop the MRC’s bicycle path network, including a north-south network. The MTQ’s involvement seems to be needed for this.
2. Provide infrastructure to improve the sense of safety for active transportation users, including sidewalks in new housing developments.
3. Develop an interconnected, multimodal network. For example, provide bicycle racks at transit stops.

The purpose of this study is to identify the existing infrastructure and the needs of each municipality in order to provide citizens with a safe network that will be based on their needs and will promote healthy living habits for all. The study will serve as a guide for infrastructure development and as a benchmark for applying to the Capital Projects component of the Active Transportation Fund. "

"The project involves studying the concession roads and certain streets in the urban part of the Municipality of Saint-Bernard-de-Michaudville with the aim of proposing ways to enhance the safety of pedestrians and cyclists.

The municipality has been receiving comments from citizens who use its roads, warning that they are dangerous for pedestrians and cyclists. Motorists drive too fast, and there is little or no shoulder on most concession roads and streets. In addition to sporadic comments, the municipality has information from the “Rêver St-Bernard” consultation conducted in 2014 and the Mont-Saint-Hilaire Nature Centre study submitted to Council in 2021, both of which identify problems that make the Municipality’s roads unfriendly to active transportation. The Mont-Saint-Hilaire Nature Centre study lists the concession roads that are generally used by cyclists and would benefit most from improvement: Amyot, Sarasteau and Fleury. Concession roads 4 and 5 are also cited as having potential.

The planning project presented here will meet the needs of the municipality’s residents in general and enhance their safety and that of the many cyclists who use the municipality’s roads. To that end, the municipality wants to conduct a study of local traffic, the corrective measures needed to improve active transportation safety, and the estimated cost of the work required to implement the study’s recommendations. The recommendations would be phased in during maintenance of the municipality’s roads and may be included as special projects when budgets are adopted. The study will help raise awareness of local road safety issues among municipal elected officials.

By implementing the study’s findings, the municipality also hopes to encourage the use of active transportation for trips to the village centre, which is home to the recreation field, the library, the post office and the church, which houses the Family Counter and serves as a multipurpose hall. "The City of St-Jérôme’s transportation and traffic master plan dates back to 2005, and St-Jérôme has become the central city of Rivière du Nord MRC and the capital of the Laurentides region. This new status brings new challenges for the management of traffic congestion and parking problems. In addition, with the City of Saint-Jérôme being predominantly built up, adding new vehicular links or expanding existing ones is no longer the preferred option. New active transportation and public transit solutions based on healthy, less polluting lifestyles need to be developed and implemented for utilitarian travel. To this end, an update of the master plan in the form of a sustainable mobility plan will be developed; a request for proposals was issued and the contract was awarded on December 21, 2021.
The sustainable mobility plan will be designed in conjunction with the update of the urban development plan to ensure effective linkage and will include a public consultation component to obtain more information about the potential travel to be considered for all of the city’s residents."

This project will improve the City of Iqaluit’s water supply system through the creation of a new reservoir and will improve the city’s water distribution system. The new and upgraded infrastructure will also be designed and built to mitigate current and future impacts of climate change. Once complete, it is expected that all residents in the City of Iqaluit will have reliable access to clean drinking water. Additionally, the project will significantly reduce economic losses and disruptions in the community that are created by water shortages.

Retrofit of community centre in Calgary, AB that provides recreation, fitness, youth, and community services to the community. It includes upgrades to pool heating systems, replacement of building heating system, and installation of new pool pumps.
