UN Women's mandate is focused on eliminating discrimination against women and girls; empowering women; and achieving equality between women and men as partners and beneficiaries of development, human rights, humanitarian action, and peace and security interventions. UN Women works to support global standards for gender equality and helps countries meet these standards by providing expertise and financial support.

The IDPS is a unique forum for political dialogue that brings together a group of 20 countries affected by conflict and fragility, OECD donors, global financial institutions, and civil society organizations to improve the way that donors, lenders, civil society and national governments work together to pursue development, peace and security in fragile and conflict affected states.

This project aims to support decision-makers in UN Troop and Police Contributing Countries (TPCCs) with evidence and knowledge of the barriers limiting the deployment of uniformed women to United Nations (UN) Peace Operations. The participation and full involvement of women is important for the maintenance and promotion of peace and security, and yet, the proportion of uniformed women deploying on UN Peace Operations is very low.

This project aims to increase the capacities and reach of local coordination teams in Colombia to monitor and report on the status of children from a gender and ethnicity perspective, in the context of declining security trends present in conflict-affected regions. This project also works to increase the capacities of the Colombian Transitional Justice mechanism on applying a gender and child focus, in analysing and processing cases involving children in transitional justice and historical memory processes, thus fostering a survivor-based approach that aims to promote effectiveness.

La Crete Sawmills is putting a new process in place to convert bark, which represents a significant waste stream, into useful energy.

This is a process improvement project by placing a technologically advanced a leading-edge biomass burner (high efficiency) into Sawmills production.

The new burner is 20MM BTU and it will allow them to use bark as fuel. Bark is traditionally waste material because of its high moisture content.

This project aims to address the information gap of the conflict dynamics in the Colombia-Venezuela and Colombia-Ecuador border regions through research, analysis and reporting. The project works to assist local civil society in increasing their capacity to implement protection mechanisms, in order for them to reduce the security risks they face when carrying out their work. The project also works to provide opportunities for civil society to advocate with the centre for increased state presence and protection mechanisms in their regions.

This contribution is to support Athabasca Chipewyan First Nation as a partner in the Peace-Athabasca Delta Muskrat Survey to contribute to the development of the project and to carry out surveys of muskrat abundance.
